President Donald Trump's re-election campaign has rejected claims that a social media campaign by Tik-Tok users and K-Pop fans was behind lower-than-expected turnout for Saturday night's Oklahoma rally.

It's unlikely that Tik-Tok teens had THAT big an impact.

I'm thinking that the threat of violence and Trump's announcement of the National Guard bivouacked a couple blocks away (waiting for a green light) might have been another deterrent.

The best and most probable explanation is that the Trump team was just lying from the git-go.

Let's go with that.

The young folks of today are awakening to the problems their elders have ignored for years and they are determined to do something about them. I think we are beginning to witness the activist generation and I applaud every one of them. They have been out in the streets protesting wrongs that should have been solved decades ago. Now they make a mockery of Trump's idiotic rally during a pandemic, fantastic!

BTW, at that rally, even though there were many empty seats they still chose to sit close together. Why would anyone choose to do that?

"BTW, at that rally, even though there were many empty seats they still chose to sit close together. Why would anyone choose to do that?"

They were intentionally put together, ignoring social distancing, to get some good photos. Not that many pushed back on being corralled together. Social distancing and facemasks are just Democratic political protest tactics dontchyaknow.

It seems the Trump campaign is now trying to downplay that they were played by youngsters...

Rally's size draws pushback

...Donald Trump's campaign on Sunday sought to blame concerns about protesters after the lower-than-expected turnout at the president's rally in Tulsa, even though the campaign had raised expectations about attendance by touting the number of people who had signed up for tickets online.

Reporters saw little evidence of attendees being blocked from going to the event.

The campaign had weeded out "tens of thousands" of bogus cellphone numbers ahead of the rally, Parscale said, adding that "these phony ticket requests never factor into our thinking" for possible crowd size.

"The fact is that a week's worth of the fake news media warning people away from the rally because of COVID and protesters, coupled with recent images of American cities on fire, had a real impact on people bringing their families and children to the rally," Parscale said....

The problem with that excuse is that is depends upon the assumption that supporters of Pres Trump are swayed by, or even read, the "fake news" media.

I await Mr Parscale's next attempt to explain away the pitiful turnout.

You nailed it!

I was searching for the words. They were afraid so they huddled together for the protection of the herd. Unfortunately for them that is the exact behavior this virus is exploiting.

The virus has found our weakest link.

Gee. People don't want to crowd into an arena during a pandemic. Shocking!

(What was the Trump campaign thinking? And do they really believe it will be that much different at other events? We're in the midst of global pandemic for God's sake.)

Speaking of the re-election campaign...

Biden commits to three debates with Trump

...In a letter to the Commission on Presidential Debates Monday, Joe Biden's campaign manager said that Biden will agree to the commission's proposal of three presidential debates and one vice presidential debate with independent moderators, adding: "Donald Trump and Mike Pence should do the same."

The big picture: Trump's campaign has attempted to bend the presidential debate rules as they see fit, demanding four debates and calling for them to be held sooner. Trump has also accused the bipartisan nonprofit organization of being "very biased."

- Now, the Biden campaign has laid out a specific position on how they plan to follow through with the debates.

- Biden says he will participate in the commission's debates on Sept. 29, Oct. 15 and Oct. 22. Biden's running mate will participate in the vice presidential candidates' debate set for Oct. 7. ...
