It is not certain, but absolutely possible, that the NFL will play in empty stadiums. Here's a look at how that might be. While uncertainty still abounds about just how the NFL season will transpire in the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, assuming it does get played, some things are going to be different. Perhaps very different. One thing that looks more and more likely is that there will be reduced, or even zero, attendance at the games. We already know that at least part of the stands will be unoccupied for all teams.

The NFL informed its teams this week that they'll be tarping the first 6-8 rows of every stadium to ensure fan and player safety. Sources said those seats will be covered by tarps that could include sponsor logos.

However, Rich Ohrnberger, who played offensive guard in the NFL for six years, was recently on the radio. He was talking about this and offered a contrary opinion. He thinks having no fans will actually increase the intensity of the games."

Having no fans definitely increased the intensity of UFC matches.
It won't happen, but the UFC home viewing experience has been enhanced 10x by the no fans.

UFC is better with no fans, by a long shot. The fighters are very mad though, there's no gate money for the top of the card and they're stuck on the basic mostly 8 fight contracts.

I watched some Euro League yesterday. Real football, not the NFL. It was an empty stadium but they were pumping in crowd noise. If they're going to do that, they need it to be at least somewhat sync'd to the play. It was completely disconnected which makes the entire presentation disjointed.

UFC is getting ratings simply because it has no competition.

My favorite thing about UFC is they have like a half billion dollar sponsorship deal from Reebok... for a sport that doesn't wear shoes.

Here is what the NFL should do:

Send every season ticket holder a life-size cardboard cutout per ticket holder.

Have the fans color in the cutouts any way they like, and send them back to the team.

Have the team set up the cutouts in the ticket holders seats.

Have the camera crew do sweeps and zooms on the best cutout fans.

I'm giving this idea away for free to save lives.

I had to google UFC... and I'm kinda glad about that.

They sell a few t-shirts too. They blacklisted fighters for protesting the deal that had better personal sponsorship agreements and ended up making less per fight. Didn't want their product looking like NASCAR.

For one thing, they won't need a stadium.

Any football field would be adequate.

Yay! Let's worry about grown men giving each other long-term brain problems. Maybe kids should slam their heads too? Sick people.
