The city of Jacksonville, Florida, where mask-averse President Donald Trump plans to accept the Republican nomination in August, ordered the wearing of face coverings Monday, joining the list of state and local governments reversing course to try to beat back a resurgence of the coronavirus.

I'm not sure there will be a Republican convention this year.

Why would they? They already know Trump's the guy.

Seems kind of redundant to even hold one.

Trump's got to press the flesh, unmasked,to make the Mojo work,I guess?

Keep the site, dump the nominee.

Okay, Florida's out now. Don already said no masks and pack 'em in like sardines, so J-ville's a no go.

What other red state will let Trump infect their fair city with his vainglorious Covid road show?

The state of insanity.

The sad part is he dumped Charlotte just because they wouldn't guarantee an open convention 2 months in advance. So he went to Jacksonville because they said they would guarantee it. So what happens now, will they be contractually required to hold an open convention no matter what?

I GUARANTEE the Trump campaign will not require masks, and most attendees will not wear them.

No prob! The Dear Leader will simply speak outdoors, to the overflow crowd at the convention. There should be about a million of them in the parking lot out back. Right? Right?!?

The difference between a smart governor and a stupid governor. Refuse to have the party held in your state and work with the Republican Party, Charlotte hospitality businesses and their employees don't need the income? Cooper stupid governor.

Smart governor, DeSantis, accept the convention party and work through the details as they come so businesses and the employees can make up some of the lost income.

Cannot wait to vote against Cooper in November.

Refuse to have the party held in your state

Trump refused, not NC.

No, Cooper wanted all kinds of guarantees and the party could not give them to him. DeSantis is smart, he can adjust what steps are taken based on what happens in his state. Cooper was not smart enough to figure that out, stupid governor. He better be dusting off his resume because after November he will be changing his address.

DeSantis is smart

"That explains his COVID boom."

Exactly and now he had to shut down bars all over again. One step forward, two steps back.

Cooper wanted all kinds of guarantees and the party could not give them to him.

Everything you post is a lie.

Trump insisted on a full convention arena with no face coverings and no social distancing.
www.latimes.com
Even Trump himself said:
Roy Cooper and his representatives refuse to guarantee that we can have use of the Spectrum Arena...
www.charlotteobserver.com
It is Trump that demanded guarantees, not Cooper.

Why are you such a liar?

He doesn't think he is lying that's the story he was told.

What southern state is not having a spike right now? NC because Cooper has done a reasonable job. Meanwhile his Lt. Gov and opponent for election is suing him to open faster. Yet all right wing media will talk about is Coopers "failure". Right now I put it at 60/40 that Forest is Gov. come November and we can take 2 steps back.

How we manage to be so stupid in such a great state is beyond me.
