The first coronavirus spike, in late April, can be blamed on President Donald Trump's negligence. The second spike, in June, is his own doing.

Yes, it is.

It's gone from negligence to co-conspirator for Trump.

The title for this needs to be
re-writ. "Trump IS the plague".

It's certainly not Obamacare.

This is Trumpcare.

Like there was a Trump that cared.

Along with Trump's other obvious defects, he appears to enjoy being an emerging homicidal maniac by proxy. Look at who COVID-19 is killing? It's not rich white folks. This man-child toddler deranged President is truly a menace to our country.

Rofl...so now it's a plague. There's no end to the exaggeration and fear mongering of the Left in regards to covid, just so they can get more votes. Neither party has yet to realize that getting votes based on fear only spreads fear and hate.

Hilarious. Being critical of tens of thousands of deaths and millions of cases is "exaggerating and fear mongering" yet you're all upset over comparing the pandemic to a plague.

#9 | Posted by Derek_Wildstar at 2020-06-30 02:22 PM | Reply

Check statistics. Go to worldometers.com. Deaths are down globally by 700% from 8% to less than 1% globally. It's easy to blame anyone when you already hate them. Stand back and look at the data. An increase in cases inversely correlating to deaths? Are you also willing to give him credit for the drastic drop in deaths?

The article is authored by David Frum. Since when has he been " of the left"? His wiki entry records in his own words his political beliefs:

""I'm a conservative Republican, have been all my adult life. I volunteered for the Reagan campaign in 1980. I've attended every Republican convention since 1988. I was president of the Federalist Society chapter at my law school, worked on the editorial page of The Wall Street Journal and wrote speeches for President Bush"not the 'Read My Lips' Bush, the 'Axis of Evil' Bush. I served on the Giuliani campaign in 2008 and voted for John McCain in November. I supported the Iraq War and (although I feel kind of silly about it in retrospect) the impeachment of Bill Clinton. I could go on, but you get the idea."

Frum opposes Trump but you seem incapable of understanding that there are many anti-Trump individuals who are not left wing or democrats. Failing to grasp a simple fact and then generating an attack based on your failure to understand has developed into your distinguishing feature here on DR and it takes you very close to moronic on occasion.

Trumpy makes it easy to hate him. He actually promotes it and apparently he craves it. Like sociopaths do.

But. I am so happy he thinks he has saved billions, nay, trillions of lives.

But I am still horrified by the fact that Trumpy is willing to let over 200,000 Americans die for the Economy. Which we should all know by now will not recover by November.

And it will never recover if we don't get it together.

Deaths are down globally by 700% from 8% to less than 1% globally.

Do you know what "globally" means?

It means other nation's leaders took COVID-19 seriously and acted accordingly.

Here in America, Trumpy has done everything in his power to make sure COVID-19 spreads uncontrolled throughout the country.

Also. The global population is 7.8 billion people. - en.m.wikipedia.org

1% of 7.8 billion is 78,000,000. (78 million)

I'm not sure how much less than 1% you're claiming are dying. (Since you don't provide citations for where you pulled those numbers.)

But, apparently you're okay with 1% global deaths.

Unlike the rest of the world, America and Brazil are run by narcissistic racists who've made mask wearing a political statement instead of for personal and public safety reasons.

Trump and Bolsonaro are why the U.S. and Brazil are #1 and #2 in COVID cases. Competent, empathetic leadership is why the the majority of the rest of the world's countries are not.

Be careful touting the drop in deaths, it is just now long enough to start seeing deaths from the surge in cases from early June. I hope as I said on another thread that the declining average age of cases will protect us from a spike in deaths but it's too soon to know and you're going to look really dumb if they start increasing again over the next few days/weeks.

Let's hope for all of our sakes that doesn't happen.

So Trump and the Repubs haven't earned hatred? Really?

They have been wrong about COVID and so many other things for so long yet they foist miser on us by insisting they're correct.

Stop whining already. They've earned it.

Well, there's a two things to address here.

One, several states, all run by GOP governors, have suppressed true COVID death counts to make them look better. That was done to justify reopening. Which leads to...

Two, we're just seeing the surge from the disastrous reopening. Deaths lag by several weeks behind cases. But hospitals are now full in the major hot spots. GOP "governance" is creating the very scenario that was warned against and was initially prevented by distancing and closures.

There's no getting around it now, the GOP is the party of death.

Yeah sure!

As soon as he takes responsibility for ~200,000 dead Americans.

Maybe this?

If the Virus doesn't slow down, more Americans will die from COVID-19 than any war we've been in.

Nope? Still too dumb?

Hmmm this got me thinking how COVID deaths compares to losses in various wars.

We've surpassed the number of KIA on either side. Will reach the combined KIA for both Union and Confederacy by October.

130,000 known deaths from CoViD-19 in about 6 months.

Top 10 causes of death in 2018 (latest numbers I could quickly find) [Source: this chart from the CDC]

1. Heart disease: 655,381
2. Cancer: 599,274
3. Unintentional injuries: 167,127
4. Chronic lower respiratory diseases: 159,486
5. Cerebrovascular diseases: 147,810
6. Alzheimer's: 122,019
7. Diabetes mellitus: 84,946
8. Influenza and pneumonia: 59,120
9. Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome and nephrosis: 51,386
10. Intentional self-harm (suicide): 48,344

So, CoViD-19 has already beaten #6, and will likely break into the top 5 in the next month. Can we stop pretending this isn't a serious disease?

Covid's got everyone stumped. Ludlow says there will be no second wave. He also said that it would fizzle after few hundred cases back in March.

Hundreds of thousands will die and many more will be maimed by this plague.

The young will not be spared as much as they think they will.

Lockdowns are coming. More economic contraction; And the stocks:like Prince Prospero, and his thousand favorites, will crash and burn.

And Death, and Disease, and the Choking Death, of Covid 19, will hold illimitable dominion over All.

Lockdowns? I don't think so. GOP ideologues won't allow it.

Economic contraction? Absolutely.

The best hope was that it would show significant seasonality over the summer and wane until the autumn. It's not. It's going to be very very prevalent come October and it's going to explode once we start moving into closed spaces in colder weather.

What we're experiencing now will be a cake walk compared to this winter.
