President Donald Trump set off a "five-alarm fire" in the White House on Sunday morning after he retweeted a video of one of his supporters saying "white power," according to two White House officials. The video remained on the president's Twitter page, where he has 82 million followers, for more than three hours because White House officials couldn't reach him to ask him to delete it, the two officials said.

Five alarms and the house still burned down.

My wife thinks that insane pride will make Trump leave before he can be humiliated in the next election. I think insane pride and a healthy terror will make Trump fight until the very bitter end.

"My wife thinks that insane pride will make Trump leave before he can be humiliated in the next election."

Well he is hyper-sensitive about being called a "loser." It looks bad for his "brand" if it catches on in Saudi Arabia. It could cast a shadow over their long-term business relationship. Kushner has been over there inking a lot of "deals" for Trump Org.

I wouldn't under estimate your wife's instincts. Of course, you could be right, too. Trump's not very smart. He could try to slug it out.

Truth be known I don't think Trump knows what he's going to do either. It's too soon. I give him another 60 days before he boils over.

Keep your eye out for Melania moving into a hotel.

Trump is trying to get the COVID19 death count up over 200,000 before leaving office, he promised Putin he could do it and it looks as though he may succeed.

Or Donald and Melania out front of the White House waving an AR-15 and a pistol.

Looking at the bigger picture, it's concerning that the President is so concerned with his leisurely activity that he's unreachable for 2 hours...

"... White House officials couldn't reach him".

Stop right there, and let that sink in: the President was not reachable for two hours.

Any righties care to tell us your reaction had Obama done this?

They know they've lost the argument, a big reason they no longer come here.

They will still vote Trump. Election day will be a good time for them to get drunk.

Let it also sink in that no one on his staff was brave enough to keep him from doing that.

"POTUS was at his golf club in Virginia and had put his phone down, the officials said."

It's incredible to me that this doesn't mean that somebody else nearby was holding it for him. Or that they didn't know the number of whoever he was with so they could call that person to tell him he had a call. That phone could tell stories.

I honestly don't believe he was unreachable for two hours. They could have always contacted the Secret Service, no Trump just wanted his "White Power" video up long enough for his "White Power" followers to see it and know he is with them. Then hi denying he knew that was in it, just more Trump lies. He knew, he posted it because he knew.

Yeah... so now it's down to this.

Don't worry, there's never a bottom. A White Power video will be considered "quaint" in a few weeks.

President Trump's record of failure " delaying his response to the coronavirus (and then undercutting health professionals' advice, thereby allowing the pandemic to resurge); attempting to enlist foreign powers (certainly Ukraine and allegedly China) to further his own reelection; appointing a flock of utterly incompetent and ethically challenged advisers " is so damning that he will likely hold the distinction of being America's worst president.

From "I'm going to be too busy to golf" to 'I'm going to be too busy golfing to delete white power tweets'.

Yes, thank you. But we're well aware that the last two disasters were both Republicans.

Also from the article:

McEnany said Monday that Trump had watched the video before retweeting it but didn't hear his supporter say "white power."
...
In April, the president retweeted a posting that included the hashtag "#FireFauci." When asked at the time whether he had noticed the hashtag when he retweeted it, the president said, "Yeah, I notice everything."

So, I guess our enemies know when to attack us as there is a three hour delay to be able to get ahold the KKKlown that has the nuclear football. Jeeeeeeezzzzz!

Not two hours people but three hours unavailable to run the damn country. "for more than three hours because White House officials couldn't reach him to ask him to delete it, the two officials said."

What's the big deal?

The majority of Trump's tweets can be boiled down to White Power!

Also.

Most people would be fired if they went MIA from the job for 3 hours.

Most people would have been fired for getting a-------- in the office from the intern. Most people would have been fired for lying about it.

Most people don't end up in the White House. The presidency is the only space where you can not only get away with numerous crimes, but it's a place where it's almost impossible to get fired.

This is the big problem I have with the two party system: not that it forces a choice between two evils, but that the two evils are protected tooth and nail, regardless of their nefarious, corrupt, immoral, criminal behavior, by the parties that got them elected.

Tribalism is tearing any sense of accountability right from the American political lexicon. This spreads the notion that law is illegitimate; this creates the exact climate that influences people to commit crime (check out 'legitimacy theory and procedural justice' by Tom Tyler).

This environment is built from the top down, utilizing the ONLY sentiment of bipartisanship available: Protect our own at all costs.

I'm not going to contend this 'American Experiment' is failing, but we're barely pulling a C-, irrespective of all those 'Patriots' insisting there is no where better on the planet to live or to create a living.
