Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Thursday, July 02, 2020

A divide has emerged inside President Donald Trump's inner circle over whether he should turn his attention back to the coronavirus pandemic or continue to focus on reopening the economy, sources familiar with the matter tell CNN.

Compare Trump's coronavirus' disappearing "belief" to Joe Biden's actual plan to combat reality:

Here are the main components:

*More testing and more contact tracing, coordinated and funded by the federal government
*More personal protective equipment for front-line workers, especially health-care workers
*Leading a global effort to find and produce treatments and vaccines
*Nationwide guidelines that states can adopt for reopening when the virus begins to get under control
*More steps to protect vulnerable populations, including seniors

Biden emphasized that:

"If it feels like you're hearing the experts talk about the same issues for months, you'd be right. These have always been the steps the government needed to put in place to meet the threat. Statewide lockdowns that so many Americans lived under for months were intended to buy us time to get our act together. Instead of using that time to prepare ourselves, Donald Trump squandered it. Now here we are, more than three months later, we're hardly better prepared than we were in March. Infections are on the rise. The threat of massive spikes that overwhelm the capacity of our health care system is on the horizon. Americans, anxious and out of work, are fearful for their lives and their livelihoods. Donald Trump is doing next to nothing about it."

Rightwing loonie delivering a "hope and change" message... where it doesn't belong.

It is going away... just not in his lifetime.

""Now we're at a point in the virus where we have outbreaks -- they're significant, we're monitoring them -- but we also feel like we have control over it."

Completely laughable comment.

"And of course... It will.
Just like polio."

Polio disappeared because we got a vaccine that caused lifetime immunization, we don't yet know if that is even possible with Coronavirus.
Apples and rocks.

The NEW worst job in the world: Fox News stooge, charged with lobbing softball questions to an uninformed orange loudmouth, listening to his responses without laughing or shrieking, and then having to go home, avoiding all mirrors and trying to wash off the shame, guilt and verbal filth. The next day, repeat...

"~sigh..yes we have to consider the anti-vaxers."

The countries reporting cases are mostly 3rd world countries without adequate healthcare.

"avoiding all mirrors and trying to wash off the shame, guilt and verbal filth. "

The hosts on Fox are sociopaths incapable of shame, guilt or any other form of personal responsibility. Do you honestly think Sean Hannity ever has a moment when he considers the harm he does to our country? Same thing with Trump.

I have news for you, no disease "disappears". They are cured or vaccines are developed. People work hard to solve the problem. I know that idea is unheard of among the "know-nothings". To them, a disease just disappears.

"Trump says face masks "are good" and make him look like the Lone Ranger"

"Mr. Trump suggested Democrats are hyping concerns about the spike to politically damage him."

www.cbsnews.com

Every Democrat in Washington DC should blast him 24/7 for making such a dishonest accusation. Democrats want an organized, effective response to Coronavirus like other nations' leaders insisted that their countries needed and they were right and their nations have effectively defeated the virus. That is why Americans are no longer welcome in the EU. The Orange Clown has done virtually nothing to actually combat the virus and has instead just played politics to cater to his ignorant base. As Dr. Fauci said just yesterday, we could be seeing 100,000 new cases daily soon because of the inaction or our ridiculous President.

There are hundreds of corona viruses.

They don't just "disappear ". They come back every year.

A virus has to be contained and eradicated. That requires testing and tracing. Which we are still struggling with.

HIV is a virus. And still with us after all these years.

Even if we do get a vaccine it will only be about 50% effective and 30% you anti-science anti-vaxxer idiots won't take it.

So the odds are NOT in our favor. Especially with criminally negligent leadership.

Trump will "disappear" long before this virus does.

Unfortunately, hundreds of thousands of Americans will also "disappear" before this virus ever will.

Republicans must be such proud boys and girls.

No, the GOP just made its impact in this country much worse.

The GOP is the same pro-life party that wanted to ignore the virus, and then fanned the flames of social dissent for opening up the economy for business as usual. The GOP did this at a time that called for unified action to control the spread of the virus, but they thought killing our old and weak would be a fair trade for making the rich even richer.

At the same time the GOP tries to throw tens of millions more people off of their health insurance, which would result in many more deaths and spreading of the virus as many more people would refrain for obtaining medical care.

The GOP is the same party that, even now, does everything in its power to suppress reports of infection and deaths.

It is also the same party that supports a president who, while we are supposed to preparing for our own crisis, gave our working ventilators to Russia in exchange for non-working Russian ventilators.

Or do you think that the U.S. magically became the world leader in COVID-19 deaths and infections?

Who said they caused it?

We all know China caused it. Trumpy said so!

Were you not paying attention?

Trumpy pretended the hurricane that was about to hit us did not exist.

In fact, Trumpy told us to go play on the beaches. Literally.

And 200,000 will die. Many needlessly.

You MUST be proud. America is finally number one at something again!

Really, just Trump.
Because Trump is the leader not just of the Republicans but of all Americans.
He caused it by dissolving the pandemic preparedness office.
He caused it by saying it would go away like magic.
He caused it by holding an indoor rally a few days ago.
And he causes more every time he doesn't lead by example wear a mask.

That's how leadership works.
By making things happen.
Trump made this happen here.

No it won't. It will probably become a seasonal respiratory infection like the other human coronaviruses.

Funny you mention polio, though. It's the best candidate for the second disease to be completely eradicated but because of religious fundamentalist "conservatives" it keeps coming back in small pockets.

The "English Sweat", just disappeared. In the 16th century there was a horrible disease that killed thousands in Britain and mainland Europe. The death rate was very high and the course of illness extremely rapid.

The sweat vanished completely after being the cause of several epidemics.
There have been no new cases since 1551 or so.
