As coronavirus infections continue to spike across the U.S, six of the nation's largest medical equipment distribution companies are raising "troubling concerns" about the Trump administration's coordination of critical supplies to COVID-19 hot spots, according to a memo outlining a key House committee's discussions with the companies.

"raw material for surgical gowns is "unavailable at any price."

But... Trump used the Defense Production Act!
This is obviously Fake News.
No surprise, it's from NBC.

@#2 ... This is obviously Fake News.

It is from testimony in the House of Representatives.

More from the article...

...The companies that shared concerns with the committee include major suppliers, manufacturers and distributors to hospitals, medical offices and nursing homes: Cardinal Health, Concordance Healthcare Solutions, Henry Schein, McKesson, Medline, and Owens & Minor.

The Health Industry Distributors Association (HIDA), a conduit between the Trump administration and medical companies, told committee staff it has been imploring the administration to create a national supply chain for months.

According to the Maloney memo, Medline directly asked the administration for a federal "umbrella" but "politics has gotten in the way of that."

The companies told committee staff that obtaining personal protective equipment for U.S. medical personnel and patients under current conditions is "not sustainable," Maloney wrote....

Trump & Co have run America like banana republic and made us a laughing stock.

We need competence only a new president can bring to turn things around. Establishing a national supply chain is something that CAN be done, if only Trump had the will to do it. But he doesn't, so here we are.

I thought Trump wanted to bring the jobs and production back to North America. American supply chains would free us from dependence on foreign production.

Trump is totally incompetent at just about everything. He's mostly like a dick TV personality wannabe.

His own show would be a better fit than trying to run THE show.

The Apprentice was his high point as a Man.

As president he's less than a joke,he's an embarrassment. Ouch!!

Last night he said we make all our own PPE and we're now safe because of it. We're no longer at the mercy of "China!"

Also he informed America of a new "fact." SARS-COV-2 is now "totally harmless" to 99% of those that get it and we'll have a therapeutic/vaccine "long before the end of the year."

You know, so we only have to "live with it" for a little while, and it's no big deal. So why is anyone worrying about P.P.E.?

Pres Trump has told some whoppers in the past, but this particularly bad.

He is trivializing the pandemic that is killing hundreds of Americans each day. Even some of those who are released from the hospital have an extended hill to climb in order to return to health.

That Pres Trump tries to deflect away from his inaction in helping Americans get through this crisis is an egregious abdication of his Oath of Office.

LampLighter - after our exchange the other day, last night on NBC news they did a story on recovery after COVID-19. I'll just say we weren't far off on our speculation.

@#9 ... last night on NBC news they did a story on recovery after COVID-19. ...

Thanks. I found this video from yesterday on the NBS News website...

Many coronavirus patients face months of recovery after leaving the hospital (about 2 1/2 minutes runtime)
www.nbcnews.com

For some coronavirus patients, leaving the hospital is just the beginning of a long road to recovery, especially if they had been on ventilators. Doctors are finding many are weak and suffering from long-lasting effects like trouble walking, talking, swallowing and memory loss.

Yep - that was the story.
I hope all those that are recovering won't be lost or ignored.
