Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Democratic political consultants dream of issues like marijuana legalization. Democrats are overwhelmingly in favor of it, polls show. So are independents. A majority of Republicans favor it now too. It motivates progressives, young people, and Black Americans to vote. Put it on the ballot, and it's proved a sure way to boost turnout for supportive politicians.

I hear he breaths only 1 time every 8 minutes

Oh, and he doesn't have any bones

Weird, huh?

It took him until 2020 to recognize he passed institutionally racist laws and people think he's going to jump on legal weed? That's.. ambitious.

I keep misreading the headline as "Marijuana Speedwagon"

#4 | Posted by hamburglar at 2020-07-07 09:45 AM | Reply

Removing marijuana from schedule 1 status is a no-brainer.

Doctors are prescribing it...that proves it has medical purposes.

Ha! Marijuana is indeed A Super Drug!

Cures everything!

And if it doesn't?

So what!!

He will never willingly and meaningfully change or admit he was ever wrong about marijuana and starting his "war on drugs" campaign. It's been a TOTAL disaster, all of it. Electing Biden is going backwards 50 years. NO THANKS.

It's definitely not, according to people who have discussed the policy with him, because he's a teetotaler whose father battled alcoholism and whose son has fought addiction, and who's had gateway-drug anxieties drilled into him.

Uh, WRONG. He's drunk ALL of the time. Besides, when he does sober up he is bitchy and crude, "go vote for someone else". The DNC is filled with authoritarians who will ride on Bidens authority to institute MORE tax cuts to the wealthy and less factual funding of the population in every manner. Biden cares more for militarizing police and building private prisons than re-evaluating his beliefs and the facts about drugs and incarceration.

Medical information aside, what is Bidens reasoning? That is the only thing the lying article lacks..

I will vote for biden. If I need a single reason, it will be to get rid of Trump.

We will fight the mary Jane battle when Democrats control all branches of govt.

NW... this is the difference between sanity and delusion.

I will vote for biden. If I need a single reason, it will be to get rid of Trump.

And if you actually want that to happen, the article suggests that getting with the times on marijuana would boost turnout and help Biden win. So saying we should wait until after the election to care kind of misses the point.

Those stupid Bernie supporters never seem to understand that marijuana decriminalization requires corporate profiteering to inevitably be considered. Only another 30 years or so. The DNC is waaaay ahead on that front.[/snark]

I would argue that this is correct. I would also argue it would reduce corporate buy-in.

From a business standpoint. There are many rich people dependent on keeping it (and other drugs) illegal.

However, the fed govt doesn't have to legalize MJ, they only have to follow their own guidelines and remove it from schedule 1. Now is not the time to do that.

The time to do that will be when it can be crammed down the throats of the beneficiaries of keeping it illegal. It's not gonna be as easy as it seems it should be.

Yup let's git that weed legalized.
Cuz thet'll make the dealers go away (haw haw)
Plus are kids need more screwed up brains. They hain't messed up enuf already.

They actually were. Until California places aggressively high taxes on it. Which made being a dealer profitable again.

Plus are kids need more screwed up brains. They hain't messed up enuf already.

Don't worry. Big pharma has our kids on so many pills these days, marijuana can't compete.

Now is not the time to do that.
#12 | POSTED BY KUDZU

From the perspective of boosting Biden turnout, now IS the time to do that.

You don't realize how profitable it is to municipalities (many) to pimp their African American residents on bs mj charges.

Taxes would have to be raised.

#16 Can you elaborate? Seems all that police and judicial system work costs money.

#17 | Posted by JOE at 2020-07-07 05:24 PM | Reply

Joe, it does cost money, but Republicans are always eager to pay extra to punish the wicked.

Death penalty costs far more than life in prison, for example.

Florida's program to drug test welfare recipients, for example.

Same with the War on Drugs. And then there's that whole private prison thing, so it becomes a wealth transfer from public taxpayers to private citizen Capitalists.

#18 | Posted by snoofy at 2020-07-07 05:33 PM | Reply

Capitalists can get a piece of the weed pie too. I get it two ways directly through Aphria and indirectly through Altaria.

Seems pretty easy for other capitalists to jump off the PIC train and on the weed train. I've made 15% this year on Aphria and another 5% on Altaria not even counting the massive dividend I get from Altaria. In fact given that GEO and CoreCivic are both down over 30% smart capitalists would be wise to end their bet on prisons and get on board the MJ train.

Drunk all the time? Not

Biden had a horrible case of stuttering. Stutterers have to race in their mind to either get the word out they're trying to or seek an alternate.

I wonder if marijuana therapy would prove effective? He should consult a dispensary, imo.

You don't have to explain that to me; i was responding to someone who claimed that locking people up for marijuana is somehow a moneymaking enterprise.

#23 | Posted by JOE at 2020-07-08 10:10 AM | Reply

As someone who lives with legal weed and am surrounded by dispensaries... the only things that changed with legalization is alot of people with weed in their bloodsystems found work, tax revenue skyrocketed and people like me can say I don't break any laws.
I can call the cops for help now where before they would bust me for possession.

Biden not the smartest choice, but my philosophy is anybody but Trump
