President Donald Trump is facing broad disapproval for his management of the two major crises gripping the nation, with two-thirds of Americans giving him low marks for both his response to the coronavirus pandemic and his handling of race relations, according to a new ABC News/Ipsos poll released Friday. Evaluation of Trump's oversight of the COVID-19 crisis reached a new low since ABC News/Ipsos began surveying on the coronavirus in March, with 67% disapproving of his efforts.

33% are okay with 60000+ new infections per day and 135000 deaths?

What is wrong with these people?

There are certain factual realities that always accurately portray future events - IF the conditions of their existence remains unchanged until a date certain. Nothing upon our current horizon portends to forecast that the effects and influence of the now-re-raging coronavirus pandemic will wane before the upcoming election in less than 120 days.

Trump can invent insipid nicknames, blameshift, and portray himself as a victim, but it's more than clear almost 2/3rds of Americans are not buying his bs this time. And since the virus is not on the election slate, it will continue relatively unabated to do what it does, which is replicate in as many new hosts as it can be exposed to. Without instituting the known and successful mitigation protocols already proven to be effective in almost every other country not led by a totalitarian wanna-be, the virus is going to remain the Number 1 (with a proverbial bullet as it regards the hundreds of thousands fighting to survive its onslaught) and Trump's personal narcissism and intransigence pretty much guarantees his defeat at its hands.

When it comes down to the choice of life or death, even Trump's own cultish spell upon his minions cannot overpower their will to survive. Such will be a large part of his political epitaph barring something changing the current dynamics.

Looks like 33% is the number of Trumpcucks who will praise literally anything he does no matter how terrible it is.

Not enough hospital beds available in many cities....answer....reopen the public schools. Lunatic in Chief doesn't care if Americans die, he wants "normality" before the election and he doesn't care how many people have to die to portray his vision of "normal" America.

I truly hate to say this but he needs to have the virus touch him or his family personally so that he will understand the seriousness of the Pandemic. I don't want any of them to die but I want him to finally get the seriousness of what we are dealing with and I an sorry, but he obviously does not get it yet. What will it take for him to get it? Maybe he needs to grow a conscience?

South Park had an 9/12 conspiracy episode where they claimed that 25% of the population was retarded.... looks like its climbed up to 33%

1) Denial-they don't think COVID is really there.

2) Inability to abstract-it hasn't happened to them yet so it can never happen. The same rationale drunken young men use when warned of death while street racing.

My suspicion is that the 33% do not deny the existence of covid; their position, if they have a reasoned position at all, is that covid exists regardless of who is president and they believe Trump has performed at least as well as any other president would have. On this basis 60,000 new cases a day and 135,000 deaths would have happened on any president's watch.

The fact is that Trump is not responsible for covid's existence. He is responsible for the chaotic response to covid and for putting his re-election ahead of a co-ordinated effective response from day 1. While I doubt anything can make an impact on the opinion of his followers, perhaps the best chance of denting their blinkered belief is by quantifying how his failures have exacerbated an already dangerous pandemic.

A while back when JeffJ and RoC were posting, they liked to quote a research study which found that if China had acted 3 weeks earlier than it did, 95% of infections could have been avoided. With this as a starting point and an effective response from Trump which mirrored China's, deaths could be as low as 6,750. Realistic? I don't know but the era of Trump, is realism a thing?

They are dead or dying?

Tough to respond from the Great Beyond as I hear cell coverage is spotty there.

"Jeffyj and rightoecentre liked to quote"

Hence the absence, they can't smarm away or do their reach around game with covid numbers

And there are only so many times jeffy can warn us about endless "constitutional crisis" and the threat OBAMA poses to the USA

So basically the only people who are OK with Trump's actions are the sycophantic cultists who can't disapprove of Dear Leader.

My suspicion is that those who believe Trump has done a good job on Coronavirus believe anything and everything Fox News tells them to believe and reject anything they accidently hear from any legitimate news source. I have honestly witnessed an intelligent person, who I will not name, talk on the phone with another fellow Republican business associate and heard him actually say "I heard on Fox News last night...blah, blah, blah. I actually respected that man before that but not after.

Just wait until the children of the 33% come home from school carrying COVID with them. I've read it's tough to be so obsequious when your object of affection is actively trying to kill you and your family...

Fox & Friends called Trump a brilliant businessman for losing a billion dollars during the 80's.

Trumpers aren't thinkers. See the QAnon movement.

The one thing I don't understand.. How does Trump still get higher marks than Dems on the economy? Even when it was better, before COVID, he had little to do with it.

"How does Trump still get higher marks than Dems on the economy?"

I'd wager it's because people who make the economy their highest priority are typically middle class and above, and high marks are earned simply by lowering taxes, not by the actual trajectory of the nation's economy."

Ask Eberly if you require additional clarification.

We can only hope, but the orange menace was elected in the first place. So it's entirely possible through voter apathy and Republican vote tampering we could be in for another four years of winning.

#19 | Posted by jvel777

I hope you meant disapprove...
