Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Friday, July 10, 2020

The wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas was among those who sent notes criticizing a Virginia town's "Black Lives Matter" banner, telling city officials in an email that protesters responding to the death of Black Americans in police custody "hate America."

... protesters responding to the death of Black Americans in police custody "hate America." ...

I proffer the view that those who "hate America" are more the ones who try to prevent First Amendment protests, and not those who protest.

How does a white woman with a black husband do something so idiotic? But then her husband thinks he is actually white because his SC decisions have a bleaching affect to his skin...at least in his imagination.

It takes some twisted logic to believe that people protesting governmental abuse of power hate America when the country was founded by people protesting governmental abuse of power. Protestors are patriots who want a better America for everyone.

For those of you who actually think BLM cares about the lives of black people:Last year there were 10 million arrests by police...

According to the FBI Uniform Crime Report and the Washington Post, last year there were 10 million arrests by police...10 Million!!

Out of those 10 MILLION arrests there were 1,004 officer involved fatalities.

Out of those 1,004 officer involved fatalities 41 were unarmed.

Out of those 41-officer involved unarmed fatalities (now you might find it hard to believe I know), but out of 41 deaths, now hear this...

19 were white - 19 WERE WHITE!?

9 were black - 9 WERE BLACK!

Now 1 is 1 too many, but to me 41 out of 10 million is a pretty damn small percentage.

Now ask me how many police officers were killed in the line of duty... Take a wild guess...

89 police officers; but where was the news media when those took place????

Just to bring it home, take a guess as to how many people were shot in CHICAGO just this last weekend.?? In Chicago last weekend 82 people were shot within a 48-hour period.

Of those 82 people 19 people died.

Yes, you got it!!! In Chicago last weekend alone, there were more black Americans killed by (wait for it...) other black people than were killed by police in all of last year!

The hypocrisy is mind blowing. Now go ahead, please do the research and see for yourself.

Thank you to Bernard Kerik, former NYPD Police Commissioner for sharing this information.

"Washington Post police shooting database" and the FBI crime data base

@#5

Interesting numbers. I see the NYC police commissioners on TV a lot, being in the NYC media region. Sometimes they play a little fast and loose with the numbers.

For example...
...19 were white - 19 WERE WHITE!?

9 were black - 9 WERE BLACK!...

Give that Blacks are about 10% of the population, I'd have to ask why, percentage wise, are so many more Blacks killed in police custody than whites?

Maybe that is part of what the BLM movement is about?

Ruh-roh.

Someone needs to get woke.

9 killed of 41 is only about 20%, so that number is not way over the top in terms of percentage since the population is actually around 13%. Go see what BLM is actually about by looking at their website. They are a bunch of Marxist who hate the USA and what to bring it down and the "woke" people buy in to their nonsense and are afraid of them.

@#9 ... Someone needs to get woke. ...

I agree.

One thing that confounds me with how this whole BLM movement is received by many on the right-wing side of the aisle...

The BLM protests are largely (unfortunately, not completely) peaceful, and the protests are mainly to have a large group of citizens have equal rights and be treated equally as the white population of the United States.

So why do so many people who call themselves patriots or declare their love for America, why do so many of those folk seem to have such an issue with all American citizens getting the same treatment under the Constitution as the white people do?

So, yeah, I do agree with you that there is a substantial portion of white people in the United States that really need to get more aware regarding their views of how the Constitution applies to everyone in the Country, not just themselves.

What We Believe
blacklivesmatter.com

Four years ago, what is now known as the Black Lives Matter Global Network began to organize. It started out as a chapter-based, member-led organization whose mission was to build local power and to intervene when violence was inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes.

In the years since, we've committed to struggling together and to imagining and creating a world free of anti-Blackness, where every Black person has the social, economic, and political power to thrive....

Sorry, but what expected to see on the BLM site based upon your comment was not at all what I saw on the site.

Which also puts into question all the other "facts" you've been asserting without substantiation.

Nah.

This is to be expected after Pizzagate, Benghazi, and But Her Emails.

I sincerely hope that in February 2020 Clarence Thomas leaves the Supreme Court permanently. And I am not particularly concerned about under what circumstances.

Even if that's true, murder by the state is in its own category, and used to be something "conservatives" would bristle at.

A fair number of people on the DR will tell you I hate America.

I'm an American, I've worked for the Department of Defense and for FEMA and Census briefly; I've sworn the oath of office I think four times.

So, if you hate Snoofy, congratulations, you hate America!

Pretending that the tragic situation of black America has nothing to do with the racism of today and its ties going all the way back to hundreds of years ago, is perpetuating things not getting better.

"In Chicago last weekend alone, there were more black Americans killed by (wait for it...) other black people than were killed by police in all of last year!"

So when a black cop kills a black civilian, does it get counted twice, or what?

Gonna need to see your Republicans Math on this one...

Also, whatever happened to the "He needed killin'" refrain from the riiiight?

Weren't a good number of those blacks killed in Chicago thugs who needed killin'?

It wasn't that long ago that the riiiight called it "taking out the trash" when gangs killed each other.

When, and why, did that fall out of fashion?

Yeah...probably.

But Clarence Thomas has always been very much a Black Nationalist. I suppose you could say his white wife needs to be lectured...but I think her husband would be better positioned to do that if he disagreed with what she was saying.

Ginni Thomas is a republican political activist a lobbyist, founder of "Liberty" Consulting (had to put the quotes in that...) and generally speaking, a wretched human. She has a long history of saying and doing things that are, in my view, evil. Clarence is fine with never recusing himself in cases that come before the Court and involve his wife's agenda, her lobbying efforts, and the players involved.

That she'd be critical of BLM and the banner is no surprise. It makes me happy. We need that on the street she and Clarance live.

If you want to find out just how wretched she is, enjoy:

Or what she's up to for our 2020 election:

I extend the wish in #17 to her as well.

This Bernard Kerik?

Mr. Kerik pleaded guilty to two counts of tax fraud, one count of making a false statement on a loan application and five counts of making false statements to the federal government while being vetted for senior posts.

The judge in the case, Stephen C. Robinson, sentenced Mr. Kerik to four years in prison " more than either the prosecution or defense had recommended. He was released after serving three years. www.nytimes.com

It's a HUGE difference: over 50% more than should be expected.

Stop using Republican Math.

1,004 officer involved fatalities
Delicate way to put it.

Combine the populations of Portugal, Sweden, Taiwan, the UK, Poland, Japan, Denmark and Germany and you'll have roughly the population of the US. They had 22 "officer involved fatalities". 41 is soft considering every person shot in their car is listed as "armed with a vehicle". And how many of the knives were found in a pocket after the shots? How many throw-away guns left at the scene? We'll never know. Dead suspects tell no tales. Twain had a phrase for stats like these, sadly it wont make it past the moderators here anymore.

So you aren't against BLM activists per se, it's ThA hYp0cRiSy of BLM failing to reform urban ghettos, end gang violence, organized crime and drug trafficking nationwide (or at least in Chicago) before they act on the less pressing issues of systemic racism and a police force that is over militarized, trigger happy and completely unaccountable.

A city nearing 100 shootings per week might suggest an ineffectual police department. But no, as your have proven, the poor cops are helpless victims of the violence. It's BLM that should be out in the streets bringing harmony to bloods and crips and teaching the white suburban kids to Just Say No.

Slightly off-topic, but I often see Chicago stats used as a prop for various pig-headed 'arguments'. Having visited I think we should consider the possibility the cold, the wind, the smell, the bad juju from the old days as Packingtown and the proximity to Michigan encourage many Chicagoans to prefer a bullet rather than living in such a dreadful place any longer.
