Donald Trump wanted to get rid of part of the United States. Talk about the essence of treason.

It makes one wonder: If Puerto Rico were for sale would Putin be the buyer?

Puerto Rico would happily be sold to the EU or Canada.

I bet more states are open to that after the worst presidency in the history of all presidencies.

It's not about the people, it's about the money. Such a perfect summation of Trump. Will it benefit my bank account? Will it benefit my brand? Will it reduce the effort I have to exert?

Everything is a potential transaction for a man with no soul.

Yeah... put a businessman in charge of the country that'll fix things right up. Just like military school instills honesty and discipline.

Trump liked to kick Puerto Ricans out of his projects. Now he'll kick them out of the country. Puerto Rico is a loser property in Trump's mentality. Just cut the losses and get out of there.

Profits over people. That's what happens when business takes over government.

Trump's been wanting to buy Greenland for years. Perhaps he should have asked Denmark if they wanted to swap Greenland for Puerto Rico.

The Bankruptcy King probably would have paid himself a commission on the sale too.

Given that OBAMA invaded Texas in the effort to intern "conservatives", outlaw Christmas, institute Muslim law, and sell Texas to Ebola carrying gay Muslim judge refugees - - - this is no big deal

Under another POTUS this would be an outrage.

under Trump it's the norm.

Let's sell Trump.

Okay, fine, let's pay someone to take him.

Puerto Rico would be open to being sold to anybody.

All we do is --- them.

Trump's administration embodies that.

Iran would probably put up some serious cash to have Trump.

#13 $5 is too low. I know a hog farmer that will pay ten cents a pound for offal. That makes Trump worth at least $30.

Of course the pay per view of the feeding would be worth more than Trump owes to Putin.

if the puerto ricans study the old documents the supreme court will probably recognize their independence.

I suspect that if given the choice, Puerto Ricans would rather have the rights that any resident of a state would have.

They've repeatedly been given the choice. Statehood, independence or the status quo. They've always gone with the latter.

Since Maria, that view may have changed.

NOT TRUE!

In 2012, nearly 54% of the voters indicated that they did NOT want to continue as a territory of the United States, and of those who voted against the "status quo", over 61% voted for statehood.

They held another referendum in June 2017, THREE months BEFORE Hurricane Maria struck the island, and this time, over 97% of the voters selected the statehood option. Note that this was the last referendum which has been held.

But please note the NO matter what the results of these referendums are, it will still take an act of Congress to make Puerto Rico a state, and as long as Republicans control either the House or the Senate, or a Republican sits in the White House, Puerto Rico will NEVER become a state, and for the SAME reasons that Washington, D.C. will NEVER become a state.

Which would instantly make us Danes. I'd be fine with that. They have been found to be the happiest nation on Earth.
