Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Sunday, July 12, 2020

Harry Enten: New CBS News/YouGov polls show President Donald Trump is in trouble in three states he won in 2016. He's tied with former Vice President Joe Biden in Arizona (46% to 46%), a state he won by four points in 2016. Trump's down 48% to 42% in Florida, a state he took by a point in 2016.

Trump is toast!

Everyday more Texans are going to die from the Coronavirus.

In their sadness someone realize that there was never a pandemic like this under Obama or any previous president for a hundred years and that Trump failed us and cannot be allowed to fail us again.

Polls don't mean --- until the votes are counted.

I'll have no assurance Trump is toast until Trump is toast.

We are in the strangest of times.

Well, I wonder what the spread is on Covid deaths, given that republicans don't wear masks. Every vote counts! More likely more dead republican voters than dead Democratic voters.

Texas turned blue in 2016!

I remember reading it right here on the DR.

Then it didn't turn blue.

Then Trump won.

Stop celebrating ---- that hasn't happened.

As the death toll mounts in places like Texas and Florida, the anger at Trump among ordinary people just grows and grows.

Exactly. A lot less Trump voters.

This Trump's Katrina X 50. Met with a crisis, he failed us miserably.

#9 | Posted by AMERICANUNITY at 2020-07-13 02:19 AM | Reply

AU

"he [Trump] "failed us miserably."

As did DeSantis, Abbott and all the other legless lizards are cowering in fear of getting tweeted out of office by Trump.

They aren't a case of party over country. They're a case of self-interest over country. Exactly like the example set Trump!

Texans are reacting to Trump's monstrous insistence that schools re-open now.

Trump's chances in November in Texas might be accurately estimated by the number of kids parents do NOT send to school when the doors open.

When they open the schools I think Trump and other Republicans are going to feel the wrath of millions of angry voters.

My wife is a school teacher. Last night we had a serious discussion about whether it was worth her life to go back in six weeks, if this is what the Party of Death Demands. Quitting may be the rational choice.

I can tell you that the local Republican leadership doesn't have a clue how to handle a re-opening.

We still have churches telling people to stay away but Betsy DeVos, Greg Abbott, and Donald Trump want kids packed into schools so families can eventually die together.

@#3 ... Polls don't mean --- until the votes are counted. ...

Yup.

The polls really just show what is happening at the time the poll was taken.

More concerning to me, however, are the trends I've been seeing lately. The trends, across multiple weeks, in swing states have not been going in Pres Trump's favor.

Therein lies Pres Trump's problem. His declining poll numbers almost seem to be feeding upon themselves. Pres Trump has to reverse that downward trend. If he does not, then the results in November could be worse that what the current polls are showing.

It would be from the vocal minority snowflake covidiots that protest when they can't go to bars or get a haircut.

If the GOP stopped suppressing the Latino
vote in TX, it would probably be a swing
state to a blue state, more often...

If Republicans got off the deport Mexicans kick they'd have that vote. It's a conservative, heavily armed culture.

COVID-19 is Trump's Katrina moment times 50. A majority of Americans were disgusted with him before this, but this is right in everyone's face, affecting lives, and proof he:

A. Doesn't care about the people he represents
B. He is incapable of handling a crisis.

#21 | Posted by AMERICANUNITY at 2020-07-13 05:46 PM | Reply

#20 Culturally conservative, but socially much more in line with Democrats.

For example, health care and child care for poor people:

Who Gained Health Insurance Coverage
Under the ACA, and Where Do They Live?
www.urban.org

Among those gaining coverage from 2010 to 2015, 8.2
million (43 percent) were non-Hispanic white, 2.8 million
(15 percent) were non-Hispanic black, 6.2 million (32
percent) were Hispanic, and 2.0 million (10 percent) were
other non-Hispanics.

32% who got health insurance through ACA are Hispanic, but America is only about 17% Hispanic.

Trump will carry Texas because folks in Texas support the high school football team they dropped-out of. Texans are limited, simple folk who are armed-to-the-teeth and easy to fool.

Oh sure.
Abortion is a big issue, but I don't quite think it translates into the way White Evangelicals are on a crusade against women.
Mexicans probably grudgingly admit they wouldn't want what they have in Guatemala, where miscarriages are investigates as potential murders.
Pretty big mental health stigma still operates in that society as well, something I learned when we were administering the PHQ-9 to Mexicans. They really don't like that last question about suicidal ideation. It's just not something you talk about... and then if you do go talk to your priest about it, I worry all the priest is gonna say is you'll burn in hell forever if you go through with it.

This is very concerning:

GOP Registrations Are Outpacing Democratic Registrations
In the old days (i.e., before March 2020), activists could stand outside shopping malls, sports arenas, and other places and register lots of new voters. Those days are gone, at least for the rest of this year. Consequently, voter registrations are plummeting. But those people who are registering during this pandemic tend to be older, whiter, and more Republican than before it. This should worry the Democrats.

#28 I'm pretty much expecting right-wing militias to flood minority areas and intimidate or otherwise disrupt voters on election day.

Along with many other shenanigans, such as the closing of poling places in minority areas, which we've already seen.

Without Florida, Trump doesn't stand a chance in hell ... except for going there when he dies.
