Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Friday, July 31, 2020

The COVID-19 task force led by White House Senior Adviser and President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner reportedly scrapped its plan for nationwide testing for COVID-19 at least partially due to an unwillingness to assist states that did not support Trump. Vanity Fair reported on Thursday that Kushner's team ultimately decided to thrust the responsibility of handling the testing shortage crisis upon individual states for political reasons in April, as blue states like New York bore the brunt of the pandemic at the time. "The political folks believed that because it was going to be relegated to Democratic states, that they could blame those governors, and that would be an effective political strategy," a public health expert who was in contact with the White House COVID-19 task force told Vanity Fair.

Kushner, who was "ultimately the decision maker," according to the expert, decided to nix the plan altogether in the end and Trump went on to publicly blame the testing shortage on governors while denying any responsibility for the disaster.

Evil and self-destructively stupid.

If these soul-less idiots had not been born into wealth, they'd be starting fights at the Salvation Army.

The full, excellent Vanity Fair article (long-ish) is here:

How Jared Kushner's Secret Testing Plan "Went Poof Into Thin Air"
www.vanityfair.com

...This spring, a team working under the president's son-in-law produced a plan for an aggressive, coordinated national COVID-19 response that could have brought the pandemic under control. So why did the White House spike it in favor of a shambolic 50-state response?...

This criminal behavior by Jared needs to be investigated immediately by the House.

Typical unimaginative thinking. Never occurred to them that the virus might behave in an unpredictable way. Kind of like letting your hated neighbor's house burn down, not realizing that your own house could burn too.

Trump's whole inner circle is dry rotted with stupidity and dullard understanding.

The stupid is STRONG with them.

Kushner has shown himself to be just like the Trump's.

Self selected, for self serving and short sighted thinking. Fred Trump would be So proud.

Trump and Company weren't just negligent, they actually wanted tens of thousands of Americans to die. One of the most traitorous crimes in American history along with slavery and the indigenous genocide. This is worthy of a firing squad.

"What have you got to lose?"

They only care about Trump voter lives. If you didn't vote for him he doesn't need you,at all.

Trump is going down. Nicolas Cescescu style.

He will be remembered as an enemy of the state.

Jared Kushner Reportedly Convinced Trump in March That Coronavirus Testing Was a Bad Idea (May 2020)
www.gq.com

...At one of Donald Trump's press conferences this week, he appeared with a banner behind him proclaiming in all caps that "AMERICA LEADS THE WORLD IN TESTING." It was an obvious lie -- the U.S. lags far behind other countries that have managed to get their coronavirus outbreaks under control, like Denmark, Germany, and New Zealand.

But despite swaths of the country shutting down for two months, the U.S. is still basically where it was when the pandemic started in terms of testing, and experts say that there's no realistic way to return to normal without doubling or tripling the number of tests administered every day. That's nowhere near as optimistic as White House adviser Jared Kushner was when he told Fox News that the administration's response was "a great success story" and the country will "be back to normal" and "really rocking again" by July.

Kushner, it turns out, is reportedly one of the people directly responsible for the country's extreme delays in rolling out tests when the outbreak started. That's according to the Financial Times, which recently published a deep-dive into the Trump administration's chaotic and denial-plagued coronavirus response....

... the country will "be back to normal" and "really rocking again" by July. ...

I don't feel like we're "really rocking again," do you?

This is why this pandemic isn't going to end for the United States. Not until we have a NATIONAL plan. It's just going to move form state to state to state to state. This malevolence. It's beyond stupid. The virus knows no borders or political party. We are going to have one undulation after another, passing this back and forth. That's not going to change until we have an effective and safe vaccine, and a unified national strategy. That's not going to happen until Trump is GONE and the Trump loyalists get their s**t together and put the Country first.

It's only a matter of a short time before newspapers start requesting that Trump resign because of his refusal to implement a national plan for the virus.

With news like this coming out I wouldn't be surprised if it begins this Sunday.

If Trump wanted us to have a "National Plan," we'd have one by now, along with everything else that makes sense. I've been asking myself "why not" and I don't like the answers I'm coming up with.

Aside from the fact that Trump just doesn't give a damn, there's probably a "why not" answer to that, too.

It's getting more obvious every day that a weakened and disoriented country, which is already demoralized by disease and unemployment, is ripe for a transition to an Authoritarian regime.

In which case, we can forget about the America we used to know, including the Constitution, because it will all cease to exist.

#16 | Posted by Twinpac at 2020-07-31 10:54 PM | Reply | Newsworthy 1

According to reporting, Twin, the reason is maliciousness on Trump and Jared's part. The problem was just going to be a "Blue State" problem, and those states aren't "his" people. That was compounded by Dr. Birx giving rosy assessments saying it was going to die down, meaning no "Red State" problem. This makes sense given the reporting today that Trump's being told that the virus is affecting "our people" is resulting in him finally becoming (comparatively) concerned. Now it's affecting those he needs to vote for him so he can retain power.

Tony, one can hope.

Kuschner must have missed the reality memo indicating that the fit, young, and educated representing the blue states suffered the mildest symptoms... and in turn... infected Trumpibunkerboi's fat old and mostly vulnerable base... when they went home on spring break.

Cuomo succeeded despite Trump and Kushner because he's actually a leader unlike both of them. Here in Florida which is a rudderless ship, right now the virus is out of control and I honestly do fear for my own life. People my age should probably remain in isolation but due to circumstances I go out to work every day. Fortunately when I'm there i can isolate myself fairly well but still unavoidable contact with others still occurs. I am thinking of suggesting to my boss that I move my job to my house.

On a happier note, it looks like Ft. Lauderdale won't get the hurricane, Palm Beach County is not so lucky. I don't think it will be all that bad for them though because it is a Cat. 1 storm with maximum of 80 mph winds, we've been through storms with wind 50 mph higher and still had little damage. Good luck to all that live in Palm Beach County or further up the coast.

I don't think you people are taking this seriously enough. You each need to make sure at least 20 people, non Drudgies, understand this article. This isn't funny, this isn't a joke about "winning," this is our so-called government literally committing political and ethnic genocide.

It blows my mind the "kids in cages" didn't spark an uprising, but it was kids and foreign and besides, they deserve to be molested for having parents who tried to escape repression.

This is Hitler serious.

Yes they have, they all have WAPO too and hopefully even the Topeka Peacock or whatever passes for a paper there too. (That would be a great newspaper name!)

I mean it's a Vanity Fair report, and they seem to do a pretty good job of investigative journalism historically. Beyond that, it seemed pretty obvious to the focused observer anyway.

I wish you grasped the level of depravity of this administration and it's supporters in Congress. This isn't politics as usual. This is a parody of nearly every authoritarian government of the last 120 years.

No, it's not doomsday yet, it's about three weeks from doomsday.

Barr appears to muzzle wayward governors preemptively with Federal officers and the threat of national guardsmen causing existing protesting division against police, increased violent interactions, militarization against citizenry and the criminalization of constitutionally guaranteed speech.

Kushner deliberately delayed the testing on behalf of Trump. It is known they are uninterested in sharing the national stockpile, mitigating the virus was never a goal, just greed and avarice. The number of children who will die from a national re-opening is estimated around 15,000. That's 5%. How many 9/11's is that in children?

Should have taken this seriously from the beginning!
