Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Friday, July 31, 2020

Jim Tankersley, New York Times: The United States just suffered its worst economic quarter in nearly 75 years. Its recovery from the depths of a pandemic-induced recession has stalled, as coronavirus deaths rise again across the country. President Trump has what appears to be one final chance to cut a deal with Congress to ensure hard-hit workers and businesses do not collapse before the November election. He has shown little interest in taking it.

Rather than push for a comprehensive plan that could win support from both Democrats and Republicans, Mr. Trump has instead embraced big-ticket items that Senate Republicans did not want and that would do little to help millions of struggling workers and businesses.

No.

And it does not matter what Humpy wants.

The economy is not recovering until he deals with the virus.

And the odds are not in our favor that Trumpy would suddenly and miraculously start doing the right things.

At this point, I don't think the Republicans want to save the economy. To hedge their bets, at least until the election is over, they want an economy that they can blame on the Democrats.

Thanks to greed, partisanship and ineptitude, unless we get a government that is willing to put the safety net on long term steroids, I think this economy is likely to languish for years to come.

Most people don't like him and he's angry about it.

The economy is his best opportunity to grudge f--- an ungrateful electorate.

Re 3

I kinda agree.

If Trumpy can't loot the treasury himself he will make sure no one else gets any of that phat loot.

Got to "the New York Times" and stopped. If it is from NYT it is most likely fake news. Nothing of value to read there.

Mostly he has no imagination. He can't picture what will happen until it bites him on the ass.

He's simple. Payroll tax cuts are boilerplate repub talking points, that's all Trump knows.

His whole response to everything that's happened this year has been slow and insufficient. Mostly,I believe because of a total failure to comprehend anything not trivial and personality based.

His mental limitations are the real problem.

Trump wants his name on a building, monument, airport, highway or military base at this point. He sees such as testament to his greatness. Give it to him and he will go away. Until then, he will stick such appropriations into EVERY bill that comes up between now and the day is dragged from office...

100% spot on.

He is the single most unintelligent president I have ever seen.

Unless it can benefit him personally he just doesn't care. The decision by him and Jared to scrap a nationwide testing plan because they felt it would be better to blame the blue states and not help them is shortsighted, evil, corrupt, arrogant and criminal.

All you trumpers.... you elected these sick ----- into power....you're 100% to blame for this current ---- show. If you still support them, you have no credibility. Period.

How would you know?

Probably has never even read the New York Times.

You are only repeating what Trumpy says. You have No Idea as to whether it is true or not and you obviously don't even care. You have a very loose relationship with the truth.

Isn't the real question, does Putin want to save the American economy? Answer, of course not.

For some reason... the clown brigade has taken to listening to the teascrots again.

"sure have, but found it better to line bird cages than to waste time reading it"

I bet you don't even have a bird.

Caring for a tiny creature like a bird requires caring, empathy and compassion.

Democrats passed their HEROES bill two months ago. Money to fund local and state governments, extend UI benefits, fund the Postal Service, etc etc.

Leave it to Republicans to take a 2 week recess just before UI funding expires and leave tens of millions of American families floundering.

BTW, there are at least 4 unemployed people for every available job.

The Trump Virus is killing Americans literally and figuratively. And Republican politicos couldn't care less.

The economy is for the wealthy.

Taxes are for the poor.

Duh.

I hear the US Navy may name a dinghy in his honor after he leaves office.
And the Army is considering naming one of those $20,000 toilet seats after him.
Also the Air Force is pushing to get Trump's name placed on the Boeing 737s that they purchased in error a few years ago.

Trump will be remembered!

Republican delay and failure to act constitutes gross dereliction of duty.

#19 | Posted by LiquidCake at 2020-07-31 03:29 PM | Reply

Perhaps the Navy could name an obsolete, decrepit ship after Trump and then immediately scuttle it.

That would be a fitting memorial for #45.

Since it's well established the man doesn't read, a fitting alternative would be to name a library after Trump and then leave it utterly vacant and devoid of knowledge.

USS Richard M. Nixon will be afloat long before USS dJT ever will.
