Democrats should say they just want Biden to pick a qualified woman and leave it at that

Period.

If she happens to be African American or Latina or Native American or Asian American or hot green Galaxian American, or even some boring fake blond cracker American, it's just bonus material

"a majority of Democrats believe that Biden should tap a Black woman to join him on the ticket in November."

"select" might be a better choice of words.

I hate these kinds of polls. What it means that if Biden does select a black woman, then it's because of the poll and/or that she wasn't necessarily qualified.

Personally I think it may backfire but I am not the political strategist either. I still consider myself an independent. What I PERSONALLY want Biden to pick is a rational person without a lot of baggage that has a good track record of being on the "right" side of things that would be able to step in and be president. I frankly don't care what their sex or race is. Religion - mostly don't care. No radicals please...

Since condi rice is not available, he will pick susan rice.

She is super intelligent and can rebuild our foreign alliances, which were destroyed by trump.

Susan Rice has a stinking PhD the far-left and far-right hate her and she might make a great president and at the very least she would be a competent one.

She's also not extremely attractive but she's not hard on the eyes either seems to have normal life and normal views.

If Joe Biden has to pick a black woman I really appreciate him picking one that would be suitable for vice president even if she wasn't a black woman.

The problem with picking Susan Rice is that she has never run for office before, which is problematic in a national campaign, especially with the standard bearer limiting his appearances. As I have said before, I would be fine with either Harris or Rice, but Harris has run campaigns in California, which mimics a national campaign in its sheer size and diversity.

K Harris is a tool. I really hope Biden does not choose her. Might as well pick a GOPher as his VP if he will choose her.

@Leftcostlawdog

Ike had never ran for office before and he made a fine President due to his life time of high level government service.

The bar for VP is lower anyhow.

"The bar for VP is lower anyhow."

A lot lower for plastic background bobble-heads like Pence.

Exactly like Obama's "teamwork" management style, I expect Joe Biden to chose a VP who can handle high level responsibilities.

Dementia Joe isn't choosing anything. Party powers will determine it while they're hoping to sneak Joe across the line.

Trump has narcissistic personality disorder, antisocial personality disorder, arrested emotional development, megalomania, and is in the midst of a complete mental breakdown. It's fascinating to watch, just wish he was leading another country and not the U.S.A.

Joe on the other hand has a real platform, connects to people, actually knows what a real feeling is, has a history of getting things done, and has support from people all over the place to help get our nation back on track, address COVID, the economic meltdown, and so much more. This takes no actual thought or heavy lifting to see who's the best choice, hands down.

It's like saying "Choose one. This bag is filled with ----, this other bag is overfilled with good quality food." People like Willowby are aren't going to be tricked! "What is this? a TRICK? I'm not going to take that good quality food! You're trying to poison me!" I'm going to eat ----! I've been eating it for the past 3-4 years and i LIKE IT! IT hasn't hurt me yet!"

And everyone stating around watching is just wondering what the hell is wrong with Willowby.

"what the hell is wrong with Willowby."

I don't much care for contrarian types. They're a waste of time and space.

Indeed.

Here's a thought - ignore race and gender and pick the best and most qualified candidate. If that happens to be a black woman, so be it. If it happens to be a white man, so be it.

#19 | Posted by zetaleph at 2020-08-03 10:31 AM | Reply

That's not actually a thought. In case you were wondering.

#20 | Posted by YAV at 2020-08-03 11:17 AM | Reply

#20 Actually, it is. Are you opposed to ignoring race and gender and just picking the best possible candidate and let the chips fall where they may?

#21 | Posted by zetaleph at 2020-08-03 11:30 AM | Reply

How does being black and/or a woman automatically make one a superior candidate?

In this case it would be an extremely bad idea.

#23 | Posted by REDIAL at 2020-08-03 11:31 AM | Reply

#23 Why is that?

#24 | Posted by zetaleph at 2020-08-03 11:41 AM | Reply

Why is that?

Because he already publicly stated that he was going to pick a woman. I think that was a bad idea, but it's done.

If he said that and then picked a man now he would look like donald.
