The US will become just one of just four countries to charge asylum-seekers a fee to apply for protections, according to a finalized policy announced Friday.

This should be waived for Canada and Mexico. The rest had to transit multiple countries to get here. They're not merely interested in asylum, they think they're entitled to it in the U.S.

"That "Everyone has the right to seek and to enjoy in other countries asylum from persecution" is enshrined in the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights of 1948 and supported by the 1951 Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees and the 1967 Protocol Relating to the Status of Refugees.[4] Under these agreements, a refugee is a person who is outside that person's own country's territory owing to fear of persecution on protected grounds, including race, caste, nationality, religion, political opinions and participation in any particular social group or social activities."

That Willowby is unaware of that is not a surprise.

And the idea of charging a fee to apply for it is absolutely disgusting and unAmerican. President Biden will correct that inhumane policy on day one.

But please, tell us again how Trump is bringing the country together (except for uniting us to vote against him).
Whoo-ee! Good thing we didn't elect Clinton, eh? Sure dodged a bullet on that one; here and her insufferable competence.

So do you think we should open the country up to the ISIS diaspora, who are at this moment being hunted down across Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Jordan, Libya, and elsewhere?

When you say, "we" and "country".

You're talking about Germans in Germany, right?

Because, as far as I know, you are the only German here.

Well this is nuts. Asylum-seekers sometimes arrived on our borders with nothing more than the clothes on their backs and recent dog bites on their legs.

They don't always have so much as a Wooden Nickel on them.

This is capitalism in action.

This is no more Catholicism than making sure everyone starves to death at the same rates is communism.

Why do you think they work so much harder than fat lazy Americans?

"So do you think we should open the country up to the ISIS diaspora, "

Generally members of terrorist groups are not considered refugees. But you know that, why would you even post such a stupid comment?

Much like your own ancestors and mine too.

Ok.

Perhaps then when he goes to jail Trump should be made pay his own costs for upkeep.

I thought isis was completely destroyed by Trumpy?

Sounds like they are still everywhere. You mean Trumpy wasn't telling the truth. Again?

I am shocked.

Now shut up and get in the van.

Million dollars to process an application sounds about right. Border Walls and fat Federal Pensions don't pay for themselves.

I love this "fat federal pension" meme I see all the time. My cousin is a federal employee. The federal pension system pays 1% per year of employment. The average retirement under FERS (by far the largest sector of government workers) is $1,834 per month. 22k per year. That's hardly "fat."
