Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Trump and many of his top aides talk about the virus not as a contagion that must be controlled through social behavior but rather as a plague that eventually will dissipate on its own. Aides view the coronavirus task force -- which includes Fauci, Birx and relevant agency heads -- as a burden that has to be managed, officials said. Yet the virus rages coast to coast, making the United States the world leader, by far, in the number of confirmed coronavirus cases and deaths.

"but rather as a plague that eventually will dissipate on its own."

The coronavirus is probably just going through a phase, like when a teenager goes goth for a little while. Eventually they snap out of it.

New Zealand: 100 days without a case.
United States: 55,692 yesterday.
Why?
"Meadows no longer holds a daily 8 a.m. meeting that includes health professionals to discuss the raging pandemic. Instead, aides said, he huddles in the mornings with a half-dozen politically oriented aides " and when the virus comes up, their focus is more on how to convince the public that President Trump has the crisis under control, rather than on methodically planning ways to contain it."

That entire article shows just how rancid every last member of Trump's 'team' is - to their core. The ones that know better are pathetic cowards fearing retibution for telling the truth, others have no problem sacrificing the lives of Americans to Trump being reelected.

It's a lot easier to give up and then loudly insist that you're a genius than do anything real or helpful.

It's well documented Trump has pursued this tactic all of his worthless life.

Lost "days" my ass.

We will have lost years before it's over. And for some of us it was supposed to be our golden years. I retired and was immediately told I can't travel can't leave the country and to go to my room.

Thanks deplorables.

@#4 ... We will have lost years before it's over. ...

I'd say that's probably a pretty good estimate.

The virus is not going to "just disappear" magically. It will stay around. Indeed, so far as I know, the only human-infecting virus that was eliminated from circulation was the smallpox virus. For a while, measles was pretty well contained, then the anti-vaxxers appeared, and now we have measles outbreaks again.

From what I've seen, it will probably be well into next year before there is the possibility of enough people being vaccinated to reach herd immunity. Providing, of course, that the anti-vaxxers don't sabotage the vaccination efforts.

Then the years-long rebuilding effort begins.

I suspect I may be optimistic.

"others have no problem sacrificing the lives of Americans to Trump being reelected."

That statement alone sums up the entire Trump administrating including the U.S. Senate.

But it's not exclusive to Trump's mishandling of Covid-19.

The Senate, for example, thanks to Trump, has completely given up all pretense of being a governing body.

Trump's pretense of cutting payroll taxes to help the economy is actually a covet act to destroy Social Security and Medicare.

I don't know if it's a blessing or a curse, that Trump has, starting tomorrow, only another 86 days in office.

86 + 81 = 167 days.
Nov 3rd, Jan 20th.

I want this election to be irrefutable, unassailable.
I want a peaceful transition of power without Trump sabotaging and striking back at America.

If the above doesn't happen I'm perfectly happy with Trump being forcibly removed from the WH in a straitjacket.

Headline fail.

Trump didn't fall short of containing the virus. He never even tried to contain it.

He called it a Democratic hoax and went golfing. Then when the states started dealing with Covid19, he stole PPE, demanded work resumes and schools reopen.

At no point has Trump attempted to contain the virus.

He actually discouraged mask wearing and has done everything in his power to force the virus to spread and kill Americans.

170,000 dead Americans. Republicans are ecstatic to re-elect Trump.

Trump 2020! He has only begun to kill Americans.

"I want a peaceful transition of power without Trump sabotaging and striking back at America."

I want to win the lottery six times in a row. Sadly, both have the same odds of happening.

CLOWN

"He has only begun to kill Americans."

I hear that said over and over again, as if somehow Trump will suddenly wake up and feel some shame.

That isn't going to happen!

Trump's mission is to destroy America, for his own narcissistic and pathological purposes, that just happens to coincide with Vladimir Putin's ambitions for himself and Russia.

It's a hard pill to swallow but it appears that The President of the United State considers the death of Americans little more than collateral damage on the road o his horizon.

"86 + 81 = 167 days. ~~ Nov 3rd, Jan 20th.

I'm using the date of November 3rd because that's the date that seals Trump's fate ~~ Or ours.

Fell short? How about 'ignored.'

We're 4% of the world's population but 25% of the world's cases. And it's only going to get worse.
