Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

After months of tension and disagreement between President Donald Trump and the public health experts on his pandemic response task force, he's added a new one: Dr. Scott Atlas, a medical adviser whose views echo his own.

..."Scott is a very famous man, who is also highly respected," Trump said. "He's working with us and will be working with us on the coronavirus. And he has many great ideas."

Speaking at a White House event Wednesday highlighting Trump's push to reopen schools, his ideas sounded much like Trump's.

"We know that the risk of the disease is extremely low for children, even less than that of seasonal flu. We know that the harms of locking out the children from school are enormous. And we also know, as we all would agree, that educating America's children is right at the top of the list for our nation's priorities," Atlas said. "So, I thank the president and everyone here for acknowledging these truths, and to get kids back to school safely."

"We've been working with him very closely, all of the task force, all of the White House," Trump responded.

A senior fellow at Stanford's conservative Hoover Institution, Atlas is a neuroradiologist and not an expert on infectious diseases or pandemics.

But he is a frequent contributor to Fox News where he has called on schools to open, endorsed the return of college football, raised questions about mask wearing and spoken out against lockdowns and the "frenzy" of mass testing -- all stances Trump has taken.

"You know that there's no real good science on general population widespread in all circumstances wearing masks," Atlas told Fox News host Tucker Carlson....

Scary stuff indeed.

Yet another example of Pres Trump bringing someone into his administration not because they are qualified for the position, but because they agree with and are loyal to Pres Trump.

Pres Trump gets yet another adulator.

Meanwhile, Americans continue dying from COVID-19.

"and will take administration efforts to combat the pandemic to "a new level."

What's that mean?
What was wrong with the old level?

"And we also know, as we all would agree, that educating America's children is right at the top of the list for our nation's priorities"

I thought fighting the pandemic was at the top, and that's why you were appointed.

This is like asking your plumber if you wired the house correctly. The guy is a doctor, just the wrong kind of doctor, not a community health expert or immunologist.

The level of dubassery in Faux News robot viewers is truly amazing. A retired radiologist cast as the President's infectious disease expert!
Think about that for a moment!
Could you EVER imagine that this would be tolerated during the Clinton Presidency in the 1990s?
What about in the Obama years??

The only thing more ridiculous would be if the the Senate were to hold some fool in high esteem who claimed to be a doctor by virtue of an accrediting agency that he himself created, then holding himself out as some kind of medical expert!!!

Thank God that level of idiocy will never happen in today's GOP, eh??

Do we really have to go the whole list of "medical experts" that Trump is using to replace the last ones who ended up disagreeing with him.

We know it's going to happen. This new one, if he has any medical ethics at all, is certainly going to have an attack of conscience and get replaced as soon as he finds out why he's really there in front of all those cameras all of a sudden.

If not, Fauci and Brix will clue him in soon enough.

Hopefully people stopped listening to the White house about health and safety after they suggested people drink disinfectant.
You can get better health advice from Dora the explorer then this White house.

We have been quietly following the Swedish model for months. Last week Dotard said it out loud, he made a comment about herd immunity, which will mean at least a million more Americans will die before we get close to that, and we do not know now long antibodies last, so it's probably all for nothing. The Swedish Model isn't what Faux Spews addicts think it is. The Swedes followed government advice; they voluntarily socially distanced; many worked from home; they avoided large gatherings. Swedish people tend to be much fitter and healthier than Americans, they do not live in the same cramped confines and multi-generational households as Americans in our urban centers, so their spread was slowed. They have socialized healthcare. They still suffered far higher death counts than their neighbors who locked down. Even with the high death count, last I read, they were still less than 25% to herd immunity.
