Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Wednesday, September 09, 2020

If anything is still keeping Trump within range of winning through a real comeback, a major polling error or outright cheating, it's his lingering advantage on the economy. Can [Joe Biden] eliminate or neutralize that advantage? Biden is set to roll out a new economic agenda designed to do just this. It should also prompt a reconsideration of another big question: how vulnerable Trump has made himself by thoroughly selling out on the "populist economic nationalism" he ran on in 2016.

Biden ...will do what Trump didn't: Use active, interventionist government to actually create jobs and rebuild U.S. manufacturing capacity. While there's no question the left deserves credit in pushing Biden in this direction, his broader agenda has proved unexpectedly progressive.

"This flips the tables," Jared Bernstein, a progressive economist and outside adviser to the Biden campaign, told me. "It doesn't just block incentives to send jobs overseas; it creates new ones to create jobs here."

The new policies "say that Biden will actually and aggressively pursue good jobs here in America while Trump pretended to do that," Bernstein continued. "It's the difference between reality and reality TV."

Whether all this will allow Biden to prevail in the economic argument - and in the election - remains to be seen. But if reality matters at all, Trump's economic advantage really should prove far more precarious than it looks.

But... but... MAGA!

Workin' man ever figures out just how much Trump took out of his pockets and gave to big corporations... oh wait, not likely to happen. Never mind.

Elect him again....expect him to steal far more. His family will be rich forever because of his Presidency unless, of course, they are as stupid in business as he is. Bankrupt a casino? Really?

LOL. Trump's pandemic economy is better than Obama's second term.

No, trump's first 3 and a half years nearly kept up with Obama's last 4 years, but then it came crashing down. Don't point to the DOW 500 as some harbinger of recovery, either. Even if you discount the bloody past week, the gains were due to 7 stocks. 493 others were down by an average of 5%.

Obama was handed a republican disaster.

Trump was handed a democrat success.

Why do repubs tend to accompany economic crashes? You must like crashes.

1) trump didn't do that. We have more troops in than before he took office.
2) no, that's not what the argument about MIC was about.
3) no, the FBI is soley domestic, not international, so that's wrong right off the bat. The CIA under Bush was corrupted (EIT), intelligence, stovepiping, but that was fixed under Obama.
4) Some jobs aren't, some could come back, but under Trump that hasn't happened.
5) Obama's always been a Christian, there's no doubt about that. Trump isn't. He's admitted that by testifying that he's never asked God for forgiveness.
6) The Swiftboat ads were dispciable lies. Trump's on tape saying exactly what we all thought. There are sources that have confirmed it and no ads are running against him that I've seen that aren't factual and based on HIS words and HIS record.

You're an fool. A clueless Earth II inhabitant. A brain-damaged Trump supporter. That much is blatantly obvious by such a painfully stupid post. One you surely think was "clever."

Sad.

Why do you think Trump's had the Pentagon pull Troop deployment numbers from the Web? They were updated ever quarter until Trump came into office.

1) so now you're changing the metric to deaths from number of Troops because your original statement was false.
2) The issue is the Defense Contractor and Legislators that want to keep jobs in their states and districts, not the Pentagon's brass. In fact the Pentagon wanted to cancel all kinds of systems and have been forced to accept weapon systems they don't want or need.
3) You clearly are off the rails on that one. I'm also a HUGE fan of Civil rights - including the right to protest, not be thrown in a van by unknown thugs, and not using teargas for photoops.
4) My point is absolutely true. You're lying.
5) You absolutely questioned Obama's religion. Trump's own words prove he's not a Christian and has no concept of what being a Christian is about. Apparently you don't either. I'd bet if a Christian was honest they'd confess that Trump's not a Christian at all, but he he God's instrument to get what they (and God) want done on Earth. That's what they tell me anyway.
6) Woodward has tape after tape - apparently you have your head up your ass if you haven't hear any of it.

Someone has to be the grownup. If Trump weren't such a coward concerned solely with his polling numbers, we'd have shut down and be safely reopening by now with tens of thousands less deaths. Instead we got a patchwork of half-measures from individual states and remain in covid purgatory six months later.

And imbeciles like you support this. Pathetic.

"And those fly in the face of the others that have directly refuted it along with the military's own recommendation on attending the memorial."

No they don't, those people only say they didn't hear him say those things not that he never said them. Others, such as General Mattis will tell you flat out that he said those things and worse and he was in the room while he was saying them and he is happy to go on record saying it. He even had an aid take notes while Trump was saying those things.

"The FBI is not limited to the US and the CIA is not limited to international as shown in the Russia Hoax."

This dummy didn't hear about the report issued by the REpublican led Senate Intelligence Committee which clearly said it was not a hoax, that the Russians most certainly did mess with our elections and had Trump campaign officials like Paul Mannafort cooperate and assist them. What do you think the significance of the polling data he gave to a Russian oligarch was intended to do? It was intended to help them target voters in swing states, which they did. You don't understand how politics works and you make a fool of yourself when you do pretend that you do.

We have Gov. Desatanist telling school systems here in Florida that COVID19 infections need to be kept secret. He's a Trump ass kisser pretending to run a transparent administration. By his decision he prevents parents from knowing if their own children's schools are hot spots for COVID19. It's absolutely shameful.

"as shown in the Russia Hoax."

Riiiiiiiight.

Tell us: had HRC been meeting with the Russians, and the FBI had refused to investigate...

...in how many states would they find pieces of your exploded head?

#32 | Posted by Danforth at 2020-09-11 11:04 AM | Reply | Newsworthy 2

- the Russia Hoax.

Even Mighty Mitch and the Senate Republicans couldn't hide the fact that that Trump meme is just another LIE:

"Republicans incriminate Trump, decimate his 'Russia hoax ...

"In a bombshell report, the GOP-led Senate Select Committee on Intelligence concluded that Trump campaign contacts with Russian spies amounted to "a grave counterintelligence threat."

Over the course of nearly 1,000 pages, the Senate report pulverizes President Trump's endless claims that the "Russia collusion hoax is the greatest political scandal in the history of this country."

Indeed, new evidence makes it abundantly clear: Not investigating the vast number of "alarming" Trump connections to Russian intelligence operatives would have amounted to a "dereliction of duty and responsibility" by America's law enforcement agencies.

More importantly, the Senate report shows that the FBI's probe of the Trump campaign and special counsel Robert Mueller did not go nearly far enough. More on that shortly.

First, the collusion. "On numerous occasions," former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort passed "sensitive Campaign polling data and the Campaign's strategy" to a man who " according to the Republican-led committee " was a Russian intelligence officer."

Ignore (for the moment) that US stock market indices don't necessarily equate to a reliable description of the health of the US economy:
What is so significant, or surprising, that trillions of dollars in financial boosts (2017 TCJA corporate tax cuts, lowering the federal reserve rate to less than 0.25%, pandemic unemployment assistance, etc.) would result in higher (inflated?) stock prices? This is a classic example of what the farmers in my family referred to as "eating one's seed corn". Those actions always beg the question: "What happens when the seed corn is all eaten?". The only bright spot I can see, regarding a President Trump re-election, is that the chickens will actually come home to roost where they belong and not be left for the Democrats to 'clean up'.

It's curious you denigrate the "Obama economy" which had increasing manufacturing sector output (you know, actual production to increase value/worth rather than manipulating stock prices) from 88 (Q2 2009) to 102-104 (Q4 2014-Q4 2016). Meanwhile, we're languishing at a trendless 102-106 (Q1 2017 - Q1 2020: I'm intentionally avoiding the period since Q1 2020 for obvious reasons but if you're curious it's back down to 88 in Q2 2020!).
