Good luck trying to get the military to toss him a Coup. Trump has 'sheet in his own mess kit' with the military.

Nobody is gonna answer his call for Martial Law.

Doesn't need it if Federal law enforcement back him.

Unless they're willing to turn to force to prevent it, which is only going to beget more violence.

What kind of BS is it that only a Trump victory is legit?
This is why left wing anti-fascism has been singled out as your enemy... because right wing fascist are trying to take over.

Right wing news has had a rash of stories lately about a coup against Trump. What had me most worried is the history of right wing news accusing the left of what they are doing.

Now Stone confirms my suspicions.

Stone is just imitating his master. We're getting a peak into Trump's thinking. An attempt at Martial Law if he loses? Sure, chances are one in three.

Michael Cohen, testifying under oath before Congress, Feb 2019...

"...I fear that if he loses the election in 2020, that there will never be a peaceful transition of power. And this is why I agreed to appear before you today ...."

Why is it that those who have worked with Pres Trump for a long time seem to share this general view of what happens if Pres Trump loses re-election>

Just Trumpy and his minions trying to keep everyone "calm" again

"Nobody is gonna answer his call for Martial Law."

I will.

But it won't be the answer Trumpy was looking for.

This is how far American democracy has shrunk. No wonder the rest of the world laughs at us now.

I bet Susan Collins isn't even concerned.

Congratulations, GOP.
You built that.

It might go something like this:

1. Trump loses

2. He declares the election illegitimate and suggests he won't leave

3. People turn out to protest his defiance.

4. Trump's Q and white nationalist disciples turn out to stir the protests into violence

5. The violence escalates to levels never seen before as many of the police take the side of right wing extremists. Violence may even degrade to vigilantism by right wing extremist executions of liberal agitators. Liberals may try to fight back, but are not nearly as well armed

6. Trump declares martial law and sends in Federal officers, and perhaps willing military personnel, to squelch the violence and round up "agitators"

7. As #6 only causes more violence, Trump declares that he may not be removed from power until the crisis is averted.

8. ?????? Depends on what action our military decides to support, and whether the military stays united.

9. We could end up with a long-term civil war.

I'm sure this could go a lot of different ways... I hope it simply goes with a peaceful transition of power. But this country is tiptoeing around on broken glass right now. It's not going to take much for a lot of blood to flow.

Stone is a Nazi... Period.
Secessionists are almost always
Racists and Nazi's...

They should be rooted out,
and arrested or shot...

We used to shoot Nazi's dead
in this country... It is far
past time to return to those
ways...

Martial Law is not outside the realm of possibility. It would certainly satisfy Trump's insatiable thirst for ultimate power.

"When martial law is in effect, the military commander of an area or country has unlimited authority to make and enforce laws. Martial law is justified when civilian authority has ceased to function, is completely absent, or has become ineffective. Further, martial law suspends all existing laws, as well as civil authority and the ordinary administration of justice. In the United States, martial law may be declared by proclamation of the President or a State governor, but such a formal proclamation is not necessary. Although the U.S. Constitution makes no specific provision for the imposition of martial law, nearly every State has a constitutional provision authorizing the government to impose martial law. The power of martial law, once held to be nearly absolute, has limitations; for example, civilians may not be tried by military tribunals as long as civilian courts are functional. Nonetheless, within the bounds of court decisions, a military commander's authority under martial law is virtually unlimited. Martial law has been declared nine times since World War II and, in five instances, was designed to counter resistance to Federal desegregation decrees in the South. Although a climate of mutual aid has always existed between the military and civilian law enforcement and should continue to exist, Department of Defense personnel are limited in what they can do to enforce civil law. Military personnel cannot be used in surveillance or undercover operations, and they may not be used as informants, investigators, or interrogators unless the investigation is a joint military-civilian operation in which the military has an interest in the case's outcome.

Trump and Martial Law is a scary thought. We'd have to depend on his staff to slip him a mickey in his Diet Coke if Trump looks like he's going to go all wild eyed postal on America.

Hate to say it, but nobody's slipping that slob a Mickey: he doesn't have anyone around him with the integrity or smarts to pull it off.

I'm sure you're right. I was just doing some wishful thinking ~~ maybe just one person who was tired of being slapped around by Trump. It's always the quiet ones you have to watch out for. I'd do it. :>)

Though I doubt it will happen I certainly would not be surprise if Trump tries to declare Martial law, I agree much of the cops would go along with it but I doubt the military would so in the end I think it would fail.

Trump is pure insane scum so who knows what he may try

Unless Trump is reelected, his term ends on Jan 20. As soon as that happens, The Speaker of the House, hopefully Pelosi, will be on the airwaves proclaiming her authority as POTUS and ordering the military to immediately imprison Trump and the heads of any federal agencies that don't follow her orders to cease and desist their efforts to take over the government.

For Trump's plan to work, he would have to prevent the new HOR from coming into session and selecting a new Speaker.

As with any coup attempt, it is the military that will determine its success or failure.
