The depressing part is that's this is no longer shocking and it will change very few minds.

Sad daze indeed

I've updated my list of what Pres Trump has said to include his comments to Mr Woodward in February and April.

(more than 4000 characters, looks like I have to split it...)

Jan. 22 - "We have it totally under control. It's one person coming in from China, and we have it under control. It's going to be just fine."

Jan. 24 - "China has been working very hard to contain the Coronavirus. The United States greatly appreciates their efforts and transparency. It will all work out well. In particular, on behalf of the American People, I want to thank President Xi!"

Jan. 30 - "We only have five people. Hopefully, everything's going to be great. They have somewhat of a problem, but hopefully, it's all going to be great. But we're working with China, just so you know, and other countries very, very closely. So it doesn't get out of hand. But it's, you know, it's something that we have to be very, very careful with, right? We have to be very careful."

Feb. 4 - "We are coordinating with the Chinese government and working closely together on the coronavirus outbreak in China. My administration will take all necessary steps to safeguard our citizens from this threat."

Feb. 7 - "It goes through the air, That's always tougher than the touch. You don't have to touch things. Right? But the air, you just breathe the air and that's how it's passed."

Feb. 7 - Now it's turning out it's not just old people, ... Just today and yesterday, some startling facts came out. It's not just old- older. Young people too, plenty of young people.

Feb. 10 - "Looks like by April, you know, in theory, when it gets a little warmer, it miraculously goes away."

Feb. 11 - "In our country, we only have, basically, 12 cases and most of those people are recovering and some cases fully recovered. So it's actually less."

Feb. 24 - "The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA. ... Stock Market starting to look very good to me!"

Feb. 26 - "When you have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero, that's a pretty good job we've done."

Feb. 27 - "It's going to disappear. One day, it's like a miracle, it will disappear."

Feb. 28 - "Now the Democrats are politicizing the coronavirus. You know that, right? Coronavirus. They're politicizing it. We did one of the great jobs. You say, How's President Trump doing?' They go, Oh, not good, not good.' They have no clue. They don't have any clue. ... Think of it. Think of it. And this is their new hoax. But you know, we did something that's been pretty amazing. We're 15 people [cases of coronavirus infection] in this massive country. And because of the fact that we went early, we went early, we could have had a lot more than that."

Mar. 4 - "Some people will have this at a very light level and won't even go to a doctor or hospital, and they'll get better. There are many people like that."

Mar. 5 - "Gallup just gave us the highest rating ever for the way we are handling the CoronaVirus situation. The April 2009-10 Swine Flu, where nearly 13,000 people died in the U.S., was poorly handled."

Mar. 9 - "The Fake News Media and their partner, the Democrat Party, is doing everything within its semi-considerable power ... to inflame the CoronaVirus situation."

Mar. 10 - "We're prepared, and we're doing a great job with it. And it will go away. Just stay calm. It will go away."

Mar. 15 - "This is a very contagious virus. It's incredible. But it's something that we have tremendous control over."

Mar. 17 - "I felt it was a pandemic long before it was called a pandemic." ... "We're getting rid of this virus. That's what we're doing. That's the best thing we can do. By the way, for the markets, for everything -- it's very simple, very simple solution. We want to get rid of it. We want to have very -- as few deaths as possible. This is a horrible thing."

Mar. 18 - "I always treated the Chinese Virus very seriously, and have done a very good job from the beginning..."

Mar. 24 - "I'd love to have the country opened up and just raring to go by Easter."

Mar. 25 - "Nobody would ever believe a thing like that's possible. Nobody could have ever seen something like this coming, but now we know, and we know it can happen and happen again."

Mar. 29 - "Nothing would be worse than declaring victory before the victory is won."

Apr. 10 - :The invisible enemy will soon be in full retreat."

Apr. 13 - "This thing is a killer if it gets you, It is the plague."

Mar. 13 - "No, I don't take responsibility at all."

Which completely negates his Feb 28 claim that we "went early."

Trumpers flip-flop between blaming the governors for how bad it is, and praising Trump for doing such a great job.

It would be comical if it weren't so tragic. By year's end we should be right around the US deat toll from WWII, and I don't see any gold stars in people's windows.

The worst is yet to come.

@#5 ... Which completely negates his Feb 28 claim that we "went early." ...

Also the Feb 4...

"My administration will take all necessary steps to safeguard our citizens from this threat."

Talk about Presidential Lies.

"My administration will take all necessary steps to safeguard our citizens from this threat."

Deplorables will tell you he did that in spades.

Trump's "necessary steps" were fifty punts, to fifty governors.

Ask Boaz or any of the other Trumpers if you don't believe me!

@#7

I do not disagree that Trump supporters think he did all he could.

I have been told as much by those very same supporters.

{sigh}

Sometimes I am surprised that they have set such a low bar of accomplishment for Pres Trump. They seem to have set the bar so low that he cannot possibly fail, in their eyes.

Meanwhile, Americans are dying. While Pres Trump watches TV.

Trump supporters think that he only intended for Democrats to die, that is exactly what is so wrong with Trump supporters.

So why hasn't Trump taken the virus seriously? He's not the "wrong person".

You are.
