President Donald Trump on Tuesday denied that he had downplayed the threat of the coronavirus, claiming he "up-played" the danger of the disease through his actions " despite privately admitting months earlier that "I wanted to always play it down."

This is the one essential fact about Donald Trump and his presidency. We have never been talking mental illness as an abstraction when it comes to Trump. The man is crazy. He thinks crazy. He feels crazy. He acts crazy.

Inside his own skull he is a god. A crazy god, like is said of Abraxas.

Trump will one day, if we let him, sell the public MAGA wallets made from the skins of his enemies.

It's already kicked in for about 33% of the population. They'll come mooing along here any minute now.

It's obscene that he actually said this. Not only did he say herd mentality when he meant herd immunity, which is a mistake only an intellectual lightweight would make, he is also promoting a crackpot approach that would multiply the number of deaths to 2 million plus.

Watch the interview. He's still downplaying the damn thing!

If Biden had mistakenly said "herd mentality" instead of "herd immunity" on national TV, the Trump campaign would be running adverts 24/7 claiming that this was proof that Biden had lost it and was on his last leg in terms of his mental acuity.

Up and down are arbitrary constructs created by persons of small mind, no imagination and a lack of understanding of Man's place in the universe, physically, metaphysically and spiritually. The coronavirus is within and without us, around and not, at once. For Man to understand his relationship to the universe and the coronavirus, we must be "Up for it" and "Down with it" at once. In my spiritual journey through the presidency, I have come to understand this duality, and hope that all Americans can do so as well...

Trump on herd immunity five months ago:

"If we did follow that approach, I think we'd have 2 million people dead. The UK tried it - the herd approach, okay? Herd. And they tried it, and you saw what happened in UK. It set them back a lot - a lot of time. It's been - you know, they're having a tough time. Other countries have tried it. And Sweden is suffering greatly. I mean, Sweden is suffering greatly."

Trump's ABC town hall revealed a president disconnected from reality
www.vox.com

...He faced tough questions from voters " and had few answers.

President Donald Trump rarely sits down with reporters who don't work for Fox News (his disastrous recent interview with Jonathan Swan being a notable exception), and even less frequently gives voters a chance to directly ask him questions. His Tuesday night town hall event on ABC illustrated why....

That's a pretty good high-level summary. The article goes into more details.

Herd Mentality

A former aide to Vice President Mike Pence who served on the coronavirus task force said Thursday she's voting for Democratic nominee Joe Biden because of President Donald Trump's "flat out disregard for human life" during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Olivia Troye, who served as the homeland security, counterterrorism and coronavirus adviser to Pence for two years, made the remarks to The Washington Post.

"The president's rhetoric and his own attacks against people in his administration trying to do the work, as well as the promulgation of false narratives and incorrect information of the virus have made this ongoing response a failure," she said.

Troye also condemned Trump in a video released by the group Republican Voters Against Trump, saying Trump once mused that the coronavirus was a good thing because he wouldn't have to shake hands with as many people.

"I don't like shaking hands with people," Troye recalled the president saying. "I don't have to shake hands with these disgusting people."

Troye says in the video that she's a lifelong Republican but would "come home at night and look myself in the mirror and say, Are you really making a difference?'"

"I am voting for Joe Biden because I truly believe we are at a time of constitutional crisis. At this point it's country over party," she concluded.
