Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Saturday, September 19, 2020

As the coronavirus pandemic drags into its seventh month, it remains an open debate whether the U.S. should aim for the elimination of COVID-19 -- and whether we even can at this point.

...The big picture: It may not seem like it at a moment when the U.S. is still recording tens of thousands of new COVID-19 cases a day and approaching 200,000 deaths, but the ultimate goal of the pandemic response has been the elimination of the virus.

- - From the start, however, there's been a gap between the goal of elimination and what the government and many Americans are actually willing to do.

- - And we're not really on a path to the alternative either: a more targeted approach that protects vulnerable people but allows others to resume their lives.

Of note: Elimination isn't eradication, which means the global zeroing out of a disease, and which has been only accomplished at great effort with a handful of diseases like smallpox that have highly effective vaccines....

Humpty Dumpty can't be put back together again.

Covid is here to stay. My guess is it will be impacting life expectancy for decades to come.

Get used to it being part of the ecosystem.

When antibiotic resistance develops more fully world wide. We will be going back to the premodern world of periodic mass deaths by disease.

Our happy times of disease suppression are over.

Considering Kushner admitted the Trump administration allowed Covid to spread. In order to hurt costal states.

Considering Trump called the dangers of Covid a hoax.

Considering Trump encouraged citizen to storm state capitals fully armed.

Considering republicans are the most selfish people on the face of the planet.

There was never an effort made to contain or combat Covid.

How would it be eliminated?

Magically?

Magically?...

Pres Trump, Feb 27, 2020 - "One day, it's like a miracle, it will disappear."

Will it be eliminated completely? Probably not. Will we be safer EVRNTUALLY?

I think that's a reasonable expectation.

But as LAMP's thread pointed out, (and Dr. Fauci agrees) it's not going to be on Trump's phony timeline. This could even go months beyond the third quarter in 2021 which is only a projection, at best, at the moment.

Trump is gaslighting us with his "vote bait." He can't seem to make up his mind where he can get the most traction with his lies as people are already starting to vote early and absentee ballots are already in the mail, or soon will be, elsewhere.

With Joe Biden at the helm, we can expect to see a lot more progress on future and better vaccines ~ which will be the exact reverse of the claptrap Trump has been peddling to his base (poor souls).

Let the power be to the 60% of us who believe that science (vs Trump's ignorance) is the answer.

You just don't get it.

Because you don't have Herd Mentality.

When you allow yourself to be absorbed by the Trumpy Herd you will understand.

Once you get Herd Mentality you will Believe in Trumplandia.

I don't know for sure but that's what the people are saying.

Trumpy's people. That is.

It would be funny to go back in time and record how many wannabe edgy liberals stated there was a need for a global pandemic to "thin the herd" and save mother earth.

The endgame of COVID-19 has several possibilities:

1. Everybody dies.
2. A vaccine that works is discovered.
3. The virus mutates, and we have to start over on the vaccine.
4. We're all fxxked in the dark, everybody dies, and cockroaches assume their rightful place as Earth's rulers.

My ancient PC, with it's 32GB of RAM and a 4-core i7 CPU, is volunteering operating cycles to World Community Grid for research in horrible diseases around the Earth. JFGUI, and join me.
