While prosecutors last month suggested that they might be eyeing the Trump Organization for possible bank and insurance fraud, Monday's filing was the first time they had publicly said that their probe might encompass potential tax crimes.

It's always worth saying again: Trump loses Trump goes to prison.

It's always worth saying again: Trump knows that if he loses he is going to prison.

It's always worth saying again: There's nothing Trump won't do to this election and after to evade prison.

"Trump loses Trump goes to prison."

There's always a first time, so I hope you're right.

But I have a feeling that Trump, being the worm he is, will spend the rest of his broken life in court with his $1000/hr attornies fighting incarceration ~ which, by itself, is a different kind of prison.

Trump ran for president because he wanted to improve his brand and increase his power and wealth. He had his eyes on the whole world.

How fitting that in the end all he accomplished was self-combustion.

I hope he and his kids can have cells close together so they can continue being a wholesome family.

Trump on the campaign trail in 16 and present has said that if he loses he'll "never talk to you again, you'll never see me again". I doubt he will be present in any court, he will be on the run.

BTW, there's technically nothing that prevents the NY prosecutors from going ahead with a criminal trial against Trump and his company even if he wins in November. The so-called DOJ rule against bring charges against a sitting president only applies to federal cases. The states are NOT bound by that rule. Granted, it would probably result in a Constitutional crisis, but heck, we've been living with a Constitutional crisis for nearly four years already.

Most attorneys will advise clients facing tax evasion/fraud charges to (1) give up the info in a cooperative way, and (2) settle the matter as fast as possible, for as many tax years as possible. This strategy slows the roll of the government, which will go for as much of a penalty as possible, if given the chance. By fighting the government and hiding his tax documents, Trump is announcing that he is stupidly ignoring his lawyers' advice, that he is encouraging the maximum penalty, and above all else, he has something to hide...

I don't think they would go after Donald personally. I think they would go after Trump Jr and Jared. Arresting them would hurt more. Also... So what DID happen to that $20+mil that disappeared during trumps $100mil inauguration? I read that investigators never found it.

It's Trump Org. SDNY has under investigation. The holdup appears to be the many lawsuits and appeals Trump has filed to keep his tax returns a secret.

Once Trump becomes 'Joe Citizen' and can't hide behind the presidential seal, (or fire prosecutors) all hell will probably break loose.

Trump's life as a private citizen is going to become very dicey. His Secret Service detail will have their hands full, too.

He won't need the secret service when he is in prison.

Don't get your hopes up. Convicting Trump isn't an hour long TV show.

Trump can tie the courts up in knots for years. It's his speciality.

Example: Trump's tax returns.

@twin,
He can tie things up as president.
When the state of New York starts sending citizen Trump subpoenas, stuff will start moving quickly. Barr is going to get all swept up in this as well.

I'm betting Trump and spawn will be on a plane to the Kremlin once it looks like he's going to stand trial(s). He is a most definite flight risk.

I still think you're just wishful thinking.

Trump Org. (bank fraud) and tax evasion is probably the path to Trump's downfall which will also consume Jared Kushner like a California wildfire.

It'll be fun to see who throws whom under the bus first to save themselves.

I can't see Trump cutting his losses and skipping the country. He can still be charged and convicted in absentia. I can't see him sitting by while the government, state and federal, swoop in and confiscate everything he owns or has mortgaged. His family would be left destitute and with a mountain of legal debt.

No, I think Trump would stick around for the fight. He always did think he was smarter than everyone else.

Of course, none of us have an inside track so all we can do is speculate (wishful thinking) and hope the worst for Trump. If I had a magic wand he'd learn the meaning of the word "empathy" because he'd be begging for it.

LOL...was listening to James Carville last night, and he goes:

"Trump will do anything to win the election. Because otherwise he's going to penitentiary."

LOL..that came out really funny.
