The Trump administration is joining yet another suit that would repeal Obamacare and allow insurance companies to charge exorbitant rates to customers with preexisting conditions.

What conservatives don't seem to understand is that if the ACA goes away so does their own protection from lifetime caps, just-because-they-can insurance company denials for treatment, denials of coverage due to preexisting conditions, and more.

It's called "cutting off your nose to spite your face." Everyone loses if the ACA is overturned. Everyone.

Trump likes people who don't have pre-existing conditions, okay? The proof is in these comments he made yesterday:

At his rally just now President Trump told supporters the coronavirus "affects elderly people...people with heart problems and other problems. That's what it really affects. That's it."

The elderly and people with pre-existing conditions are less than human--and therefore expendable--to Trump. The proof is in the language he uses: "That's what it really affects." Notice he refers to the most vulnerable human beings as it, not who. As if they are some kind of animals, not people:

At his rally just now President Trump told supporters the coronavirus "affects elderly people...people with heart problems and other problems. That's who it really affects. That's it."

Seniors and folks with pre-existing conditions across the country, I hope you are listening. If Trump is re-elected, your health and your health insurance will be at great risk. Slice it and dice it anyway you want. "That's it." That's the truth. "It is what it is." You have been warned. Vote accordingly.

The pre-existing conditions clause was a very popular, if not the most popular, part of ACA.

The Republicans found out what a third rail it was when they tried to repeal it early in Pres Trump's term. They quickly backed away from it.

If Pres Trump succeeds in repealing the pre-existing conditions clause, he may have more push back than he is aware of. Or maybe he just doesn't care.

The only logical reason I can see for wanting to repeal the pre-existing conditions clause is that in order for it to work, you need a large pool of insured to spread out the costs. In order to get that large pool of insured, you need the mandatory option that was in the Republicans' health insurance proposals of the 1990's.

I can't tell from the article exactly what they are accusing Trump of attempting to do regarding pre-existing conditions.

But.....this is the main issue I had with Obamacare utilizing the private insurance industry to underwrite and be present.

You have to be crazy to think that if you use private insurance carriers that they won't underwrite the risks

The private insurance companies are still in the drivers seat here......and they will still be in the drivers seat even with a Biden presidency.

IOW, this problem never really goes away until you cut them out entirely.

Ban Abortion. End Obamacare. And then say goodbye to the Republican Party with the backlash.

Wait, wait!!!! Hold the presses!!

Trump is actually going to introduce his long awaited and promised health care plan! Been touting it for over a month now. He's been hard at work carving it out and fine tuning it.

A few executive orders before the election (how timely!) that will promise to really help out the good USA. Even protect pre-exisiting conditions.

What a guy.

Meanwhile, the GOP says quitely "WTF?"

Don't believe trump on whatever he promises,
he's been promising for 4 yrs.....and what a
coincidence now he's doing it again, the GOP
has been trying to get rid of Obama Care/ACA
and now they are coming out with a better one?
They'll come out with their own plan as soon
as Trump releases his taxes....sure.
So if he gets re-elected, he'll plead amnesia...
This guy lies through his teeth!! And he's not ashamed either.
