Seems logical to me. If they're undocumented, they're really not here...

"For any other country in the world, the idea of counting people illegally there for the purpose of distributing voting representation and delivery of federal spending AND NOT actively working to remove them would be considered INSANE."

IOW, you still want cheap lettuce, you just don't want the folks who grow and harvest it to have roads, schools, or hospitals.

And when was the last time we frog-marched the hirers?

"And when was the last time we frog-marched the hirers?"

That should happen every time illegals are frog marched from a business. Put them at the front of the line.

So we're suddenly interpreting the Constitution?

It says count all free persons. Period. Anything else is you simply stating what you want because you want it.

The Constitution differentiates between "persons" and "citizens," and the framers chose to use "persons" when it came to the Census.

Funny how all the "textualist" conservatives want to ignore the plain language in the Constitution when it comes to something that might make a brown person's life better. And by "funny" i mean "pathetic."

An Originalist reading says blacks should only be counted as 3/5 a person.

I'd love to see the US Attorneys make that argument in court!
