Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Friday, September 25, 2020

More than three-and-a-half years into his presidency and 40 days from an election, President Donald Trump on Thursday launched what aides termed a "vision" for health care heavy on unfulfilled aspirations.

Trump's attempts to win become ever more febrile, more desperate. Vote by mail is already started. This obviously terrifies him.

Both sides know that he simply lies about helping people. Only one side cares.

Still waiting for Trumpers to take issue with his use of EOs.

"protecting people with preexisting medical conditions from insurance discrimination."

What? Are you sure? That's not what I read here just a couple days ago.

Why would Trump do that?

You mean: "Why would Trump say that?"

All he's "doing" is trying to fool people.

"All he's "doing" is trying to fool people."

I thought he was destroying America.

He can't do that by just fooling people.

Are you talking today, or yesterday as well?

Honestly, Zed....I think Trump is doing more than just trying to fool people.

I'm surprised you have to be told that........

-He signed an executive order on a range of issues, including protecting people with preexisting medical conditions from insurance discrimination.

That appears to be something he did, not said, Zed.

so again, why would he DO that?

It was clearly understood here that he wouldn't DO that, Zed.

By smart people.......such as you.

Do we want health care based upon the whims of a campaign-focused presidential executive order, or do we want health care based upon laws passed by Congress?

Where did Dr. Zed go?

no fun here?

I think to most here that depends entirely on who is signing the EOs.

I don't understand your point, EBERLY. Nothing Trump does is outside his con. He's terrified at losing and so he's using all his manipulative tools. He's like Beria, freeing prisoners to prove he's a nive guy after all and not a cold-blooded, murdering bastard.

How does an EO accomplish:
protecting people with preexisting medical conditions from insurance discrimination.

Seems like an empty promise, bigly.

" It was clearly understood here that he wouldn't DO that"

All he's "done" is take credit for what President Blackenstein got passed into law.

Further proof: Veterans Choice.

Trump can't order insurance companies to cover people with preexisting conditions. It takes a law, passed by Congress and enforced by the Executive branch, which BTW, is already in place.

This executive order does nothing. It has no teeth. The truth is that the Trump admin supports the suit brought by several state AG's that would overturn the already existing protections for people with preexisting conditions. More evidence that everything Trump says is a lie. He's an immoral conman.

Being able to deny coverage by claiming COVID-19 as a pre-existing condition is the for-profit insurance industry's wet dream.

That would exclude about 1/2 to 2/3 of all Americans, by the time this is over.

Trump Health Care "plan" is baloney

As in, it covers the cost of a package of baloney.

After that, you're on your own.

This is just Trump trying to look like he's doing something while actually accomplishing the opposite. Taking away the ACA and the legally binding protections it provides while "replacing" it with an EO that cannot legally be enforced at all.

Eberly is so stupid he thinks this is Trump helping Americans.

You can't make this ---- up. It's too unbelievable .

Before the 2018 midterms Trump was promoting a tax cut just for the middle class.... after the election the topic never was spoken about again.

He is no different than a used car salesman.

How can you protect people with pre-existing conditions with an Executive Order? What does it actually do? Does it have any teeth? Does it remain valid if Obamacare is overturned?

My guess is that it is all talk, and no substance. Which is typical for conservatives.

Here is the executive order... www.whitehouse.gov

I challenge you to find ANYTHING in there that is substantive. As far as I can tell, it is just a bunch of unquantifiable BS about "maintain and build upon existing actions". The only thing in there that is potentially worth anything is preventing surprise billing, but I am unsure of what legal authority the Executive Branch has to regulate that.

I look forward to your response.

-Eberly is so stupid he thinks this is Trump helping Americans.

GFY, I didn't say anything of the kind.

-How can you protect people with pre-existing conditions with an Executive Order?

I don't know. If your argument is that this EO doesn't really accomplish anything, then fine.

I only commented because folks here just claimed Trump would use an EO to take this protection away or in some other fashion.

You are incoherent. So afraid of being understood, that's why you tie your own statements up in knots.

So you think Trump was trying to help?

What would he issue this order for?

Do you have a coherent answer? Or are you just a windbag?

No, you just make up ---- I didn't even come close to saying and pretend I said it.

nicely done!

-So you think Trump was trying to help?

Not necessarily but I imagine removing pre-existing condition protection doesn't poll well so he had to at least create the perception he isn't going to do that.

Last summer we visited my wife's nephew and his family up in Washington state. They're latest baby was born with some serious medical issues which thankfully have been pretty much resolved. Anyway, during a discussion about how they managed to cover the expenses they explained that they were blessed by having good insurance and they managed to cover the out-of-pocket expenses with help from family and friends. The conversation came around to possible long term medical issues and the mother commented that she was so glad that Donald Trump had worked so hard to guarantee that preexisting conditions would always be covered. When we tried to explain that, no, it was Obama that had gotten the ACA passed which protected people from losing their insurance due to situations like their daughter was in, but they insisted that Obama had taken away healthcare from Americans and it was only Trump who had restored it again and who was working to prevent the Democrats from trying it again. When we explained that Trump was actually trying to get the ACA declared unconstitutional, they looked at us like we were crazy or something. After asking a few more questions it became obvious that these people had drunk the Kool-Aid. They were adamant that Trump was the only person who could save America and people like them, and that both Democrats AND Republican don't have the people's welfare in mind, ONLY Donald Trump. He will save America and keep this a Christian country (they're evangelicals). If the Democrats were in charge, they would be bringing millions of Muslims and Mexicans into the country to take jobs away from Americans. She was glad that Trump had forced Obama out of office as he was a Muslim who wasn't even born in America and should never have been allowed to be president in the first place.

Unfortunately there are millions of people out there just like this young couple who believes that Trump is the only person in America who cares about people like them, a guy who works construction and gal who's at home taking care of two young kids.

And when we asked where did they get their news, they said Fox News and Facebook.

America land of the stupid and easily duped. I have a friend In NC. Otherwise smart guy, just as totally insane about Trump. He hates both parties and is convinced Trump is the savior of America. Can't be reasoned with, totally brainwashed, how does this happen?

MAGA!

But honestly, I think Trump's popularity and impending re-election are less a function of him as a person vs. the completely unhinged and un-American -------- that has become the Democrat party.

Hell, if ya'll had even nominated the that poofter from Indiana we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

The Democrat post-mortem of this ---- is going to be extremely entertaining to witness. The knives are going to come out. Your going to see the words "dementia" and "socialist" thrown about as you -------- turn on each other.

It will be fun Tweets to read.

"He signed an executive order on a range of issues, including protecting people with preexisting medical conditions from insurance discrimination."

So basically he did nothing. First of all I it is probably unlawful or meaningless as is much of what Trumpy has tried to do to enact MAGA because he is an ignorant ass when it comes to how the government functions.

Also.

Executive Orders can be undone.

By the next Executive.

So.

Color me not impressed with more Trumpy lies.

Also... side note:

"vision" is not included in your health care.

Never was as far as I know. You have to pay extra for vision care. And I never understood why that is. Except another way for the insurance industry to trick me into paying more for care that should already be covered.

Like your eyes are not really part of your body and couldn't be covered under your health care plan.

Why would Trump do that?
#3 | POSTED BY EBERLY

For the same reason he's trying to send $200 to seniors.

It's a shameless election ploy, which anybody would and should guess given the proximity to the election when a half assed "vision" is finally released.

"We're going to have health insurance for everybody.
There was a philosophy in some circles that if you can't pay for it, you don't get it.
That's not going to happen with me as President. I am going to take care of everybody.
Everybody's going to be taken care of much better than they're taken care of now,
and it will cost them much, much less, believe me. It's so simple."
