The numbers of suicides among members of the military have increased by as much as 20% this year compared with the same period in 2019, with pandemic-induced stress believed to be partly to blame. According to military leaders, the rise varies by service. The Army, which is the largest branch, has seen a 30% spike, raising the number for the military as a whole.
