Law enforcement agencies across the country reported outages of their 911 systems Monday night, and it was not immediately clear if there was a connection with a major Microsoft system outage. Law enforcement agencies around the country, from Nevada to Pennsylvania and Arizona to Minnesota, tweeted that their 911 systems were down beginning sometime after 7 p.m. ET. By 8:15 p.m., some departments were reporting that their services had come back online.

Microsoft? More like: My software goes off... Azure AD, Outlook, Office.com, Teams, Authenticator, etc block unlucky folks from logging in

Microsoft's online authentication systems are inaccessible for at least some customers today, locking those subscribers out of tons of Redmond-hosted services if they are not already logged in.

And, according to the software giant, its attempt to rectify the system failure, by backing out a recent change, did not work....

Just before 0100 UTC, September 29, Microsoft said it had put a fix in place and people should start to see access to Azure Active Directory authentication, at least, recover:

Yeah...the cloud is very secure and reliable. I'm glad I got out of the business January 2019. There are banks and credit unions running production databases in the cloud now. Including the one I left.
