The largest nurses' union in the U.S. revealed Monday that the federal government's failure to track and report data on Covid-19 deaths has led to the deaths of at least 1,700 healthcare workers while leaving medical facilities with little incentive "to avoid becoming zones of infection."

The truly sad part is that these 1700 healthcare workers treated any person who walked in the door, regardless of whether or not that person wore a mask and socially distanced, or stayed up late partying in close quarters at a bar with friends.

They treated everyone.

These healthcare workers deserve to be memorialized every bit as much as the emergency workers who perished on 9/11/2001.

I've lost coworkers, incredible caring people, because the President lied to the American public.

Are they sure it was 1700?
That number seems high.

I'm also curious how many bus drivers have passed. They are also in direct, closed-environment contact with every type of potential covid vector every trip driven every day. None of these people are paid hazard pay, but the cost has been their lives. How is this not the time for emergency pay?!

In Capitslism, "essential" is just a euphemism for expendable.

Profit is the only thing that's essential.

Always has been.
