New York City will impose fines on people who refuse to wear a face covering in public, Mayor Bill de Blasio said on Tuesday, as he announced that the rate of positive tests for the coronavirus had climbed above 3% in the city for the first time in months.

N.Y.C. Reports Large Uptick in Virus Cases

...Over the past two weeks, the cases in the nine ZIP codes account for 25 percent of the city's virus cases, despite the fact that the population in those areas make up only 7 percent of the city's population, according to Dr. Dave Chokshi, the city's health commissioner.

Many of the new cases in recent weeks -- at least 1,600 -- have taken place in what city officials are calling the "Ocean Parkway cluster," named after the boulevard that runs from the bottom of Prospect Park south to the ocean.

The cluster was detected last month as case rates rose in Borough Park, a predominately Orthodox Jewish neighborhood where mask-wearing has been a rarity. In interviews last week, several Hasidic men who live in Borough Park said that many members of their community thought the neighborhood had a degree of herd immunity because of how hard-hit it was in March and April.

People starting to go inside up north here...

We're finally making some headway in Southern California. The major issues now truly are the colleges. We've had a spike just from SDSU opening campus. SNOOFY knows what a ---- show it is up there, even currently. It was especially bad when all the kids came back, ready to party.

Believe me, 18-year-old-me would have done the exact same. And I hate myself for it. After 9/11, my outlook on life really changed. But I guess watching friends march off to war might have such an effect.

What happens when some knothead rips up the summons and flips the cop off?
Mandatory masks is a great idea. But it has to be enforced.
