Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Tuesday, September 29, 2020

Trump's genius, as illuminated by the Times, isn't simply for self-promotion but for harnessing self-promotion to a coherent and comprehensive strategy for personal gain. Profit gets paid out in multiple ways: money, of course, but also reputational currency. The taxes also highlight his ability to fully merge his personal and professional lives, in which houses and jets and hair stylists become business expenses (in some cases suspect ones). It is a simple fact that in this intersection of self-promotion, self-enrichment, and self-protection Trump has a mind that operates at a different level than most, and he has used it to fashion a historic career.

Avigdore: "New York Times Confirms Trump Is a Genius"

In the land of the mentally vegetative, the abject moron is a genius.

Other "geniuses" who capitalized on the foolishness of others: Alex Jones, Sarah Palin, Paris Hilton, The Kardashians (except for Robert who was actually a good attorney), that Q Anon guy.

Trump's a genius for blatantly cheating the system and still ending up 1.1B in the hole, but ---- free market Hillary Clinton for selling a pep talk to morons at Goldman Sachs for $100k, right?

You see garbage in a unique way.

You know you've lost the argument. Trump is a smoking wreck atop a ruin. It's interesting you retain even a joking need to see him as being competent. I thought that wasn't the point for Trumpites.

Interesting, being a shameless self-promoting pile of ---- earns Trump the same descriptor as people like Einstein, Hawking or Salk.

By "operates at a different level" you mean "hired very competent tax pros of dubious morality". Lets not pretend he's doing his own taxes. He doesn't read anything to know to use the Obama admin rule to reach back and write off multiple years for the refund.

@#5 ... Interesting, being a shameless self-promoting pile of ---- earns Trump the same descriptor as people like Einstein, Hawking or Salk. ...

Well, Pres Trump is the person the Republicans have chosen for their leader.

What does that say about the Republican Party?

I can give you a hint...

Locally, there is a Republican running for the State Assembly seat in the area. His yard signs are not red. The mail literature he sends out and the flyers he leaves on your door handle have no red on them. They are mostly blue.

A Republican running for election, and using blue as the identifying color of his campaign literature.

Am I the only one who notices something odd here?

@#10 ... Must be looking to reignite the Reagan era

While that is a possibility, I doubt if it is the case.

The text of his literature encourages voters to ignore what is going on elsewhere in the Republican Party and just concentrate on the local stuff.

Two years ago I was visited by a couple of Republicans running for local office. I asked them what they thought of Pres Trump and what was happening to the Republican Party. They told me that they did not like it, and that they did not condone it.

However, when I told them I'd believe what they said when they put it in their campaign literature that is mailed out, they thanked me for my time and left my house.

The above is just a long way of saying your lame attempt of deflection is humorous at best.

It's more like an act of desperation.

#11 All the Republican flyers I've seen here in San Diego have one thing in common:

They NEVER mention that they belong to the Republican party.

In the midterms, one Republican actually claimed she stood up to Trump (on offshore drilling).

"in which houses and jets and hair stylists become business expenses (in some cases suspect ones)"

In the cases of grooming and his second home, illegal ones.

Planes are only deductible to the % used for business. Hairsytyling costs are not deductible at all. Neither are all expenses for second homes.

From a colleague, and one of my early tax teachers:

Sandra Karas, secretary-treasurer of Actors' Equity, was surprised Monday morning when she read The New York Times' article about President Trump's income taxes " and the $70,000 that he reportedly wrote off as a business expense for hair styling in connection with his TV show The Apprentice. "It made me laugh when I saw it in the paper," she said. "The first thing I thought was, That's not deductible.'" Karas isn't privy to Trump's Apprentice contract, but said that it's "unheard of" for producers to make the star of a hit show pay for their own hair and makeup. And Karas should know: As a licensed accountant and tax attorney currently representing, pro bono, a member of the union in a case before the US Tax Court, she oversees the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program in the union's New York office that helps members fill out their tax returns, free of charge.

JeffJ doesn't care to be near your urine soaked stench of a ---- hole anymore, Savage.

He's forgotten you ever existed. Did he ever bother to converse with you at all, filthy savage?

Perhaps you're unable to comprehend my point in your drunken stooper.

I'm not respecting any of it. Nor am I defending anyone else doing the same.

I'm specifically pointing out there are some real people who would consider that kind of debt "success".

and if that makes me a "know it all"....well, I am....but that's hardly a good example.

I love threads from Avidgore, our very own Russian propagandist.

Not paying taxes would make most Americans criminals. But in the eyes of Trump supporters, it makes Trump a "genius."

If Donald Trump wiggles his way out of the hole he's dug himself into this time, I'll agree with the New York Times. Of course, "unscathed" means how many bodies he leaves in his wake.

As for examples of other geniuses, John Gotti was very good at his job, too ~~ while it lasted.

You could even say the same thing about Adolph Hitler.

Obviously, someone who views debt as success is a flawed person. very flawed in fact.

I'm just pointing out those are not made-up people....they do exist.

I have a few clients that are like that.

It's as if you folks don't believe there are other people out there like Donald Trump....some you personally know, as a matter of fact.

People who...

1. value their extravagant lifestyle and appearance
2. believe YOU care about their extravagant lifestyle and appearance
3. Value the above so much that if reckless and irresponsible debt is necessary to obtain it...so be it.
4. Don't lose much sleep over the debt....if there is any lost sleep, it's over the toys they don't have.

Believe me when I tell you all I know a lot of folks I just described.

The debt doesn't matter......the very obvious and visible lavish lifestyle is everything....no matter the cost.

Maybe being in debt doesn't matter to you or the wealthy 1% who don't actually need a loan to buy the essentials of life.

But for 90% of us Debt is held against you if you actually NEED the money to survive.

Debt is also held against you if you seek a job that requires a security clearance. (Unless you are in the favor of the Boss)

Being in debt is considered a moral failure for the poor.

actually, many private sector jobs (especially in financial services) require consumer reports be run and approved before hiring.
