Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Tuesday, September 29, 2020

CNN anchor Poppy Harlow finally hit her limit against White House spokesperson Brian Morgenstern during a Monday interview over the bombshell New York Times story on President Donald Trump's taxes, scolding the Trump flack for attacking and accusing reporters of coordinating with the Democratic Party.

It will be incredible if enough Americans can't band together to see DT off to prison.

It's always funny watching the President's spokespeople squirm because they don't want to answer the obvious.

Anything bad about Trump is a conspiracy to bring him down. He's bad by default, though, so he is a conspiracy to bring himself down.

A felony is a serious offense.

Please explain the details of why you think a felony was committed by the NY Time Editor.

thx.

Trumplings think anything that displeases Dear Leader is a felony. End of discussion.

But only if the article is true and accurate. If it's really just 'fake news', as Trump claims that it is, what can they do about it? After all, Rupert Murdoch has already gotten a ruling from a federal judge that there's nothing in the Constitution that says that the press has to tell the truth.

#8 Bogey1335 isn't smart enough to think of that.

If it's fake news, no crime was committed. And the New York Times has the right to lie just like Fox News does.

Still, these concepts should be a blip on his radar, since Trump has been subpoenaed to provide DNA evidence in a defamation case regarding a rape allegation that Trump claims is fake news.

@#8 ... If it's really just 'fake news', as Trump claims that it is ...

I think we need to take a step back regarding the "fake news" appellation.

What does it really mean?

Pres Trump seems to use it for any news he does not like. He does not seem to be concerned about the veracity of the news, merely whether or not he likes it.

And whether he likes it seems to be based purely upon whether or not the news is praiseful or critical of him.

So, based upon that, Pres Trump seems to deem anything as "fake news" purely because he does not like what it says, and not because the news is or is not valid.

So, from now on, when I see the phrase "fake news" my first pass is to take it as meaning that Pres Trump does not like it, or would not like it. The latter sense used by Pres Trump's polyp checkers.

Tonight at the debate, Trump was directly asked if he had only paid $750 federal income taxes for 2016 and 2017 and his response was that he paid MILLIONS in FEDERAL TAXES. But when it was suggested that he could put this story to bed if he would just release his tax returns and he again said that they would be released as soon as the audits were over.

" his response was that he paid MILLIONS in FEDERAL TAXES."

First, Trump was doubtless counting real estate taxes in his total. Second, he's also counting payroll taxes, which ARE federal taxes, but not income taxes.

RE taxes are assessed and billed. Payroll taxes are reconciled via W-2s. But income tax returns contain voluntary, and often unverifiable information.

If you don't pay your RE taxes, the local government will file a lien. If you don't remit payroll taxes on your workers, well, that's the quickest way to get the IRS to close your business and seize your assets. But with income tax returns...it takes audit to get to the truth.

Eric said someone at the IRS obviously leaked the forms... So isn't that an admission the information is correct and not actually "fake news"?

Eric said blah, blah, blah

It's too late now. The cat's out of the bag.

I doubt if Trump has an "October Surprise" of his own that will top this.

If only there was some piece of paper that could be produced by Fat Nixon that proves he pays millions in taxes to the IRS.

If only.....

It's time we cast Brokeahontas in his proper light.... a broke ass baby daddy with five kids from three women who lives in government subsidized housing.

How he continually gets away with his tax fraud is beyond me. I remember when I worked in high school at a C store the IRS came in and audited the owner. While the agent was there the owner took two slices of bread and three pieces of meat out of the deli cooler and made a sandwich. The IRS agent hit him with self employment income for two slices of bread, three slices of meat, plus a pop and condiments for 5 days x 50 weeks x 3 years. This -------- deducts $70,000 for haircuts on that rats nest on top of his empty head.
