The Proud Boys, a far-right extremist group, pledged allegiance to President Donald Trump on Tuesday night after he told the group to "stand back and stand by" during the evening's debate. ... Trump was asked by debate moderator Chris Wallace to disavow white supremacy during a portion of the debate focused on race. Wallace asked if Trump would urge white supremacist groups that inflamed violence at nationwide protests to "stand down."

The Proud Boys, a self-described "Western chauvinist" organization, is considered a violent, nationalistic, Islamophobic, transphobic and misogynistic hate group, according to the Anti-Defamation League, a nonprofit organization that tracks extremist groups. Proud Boys members marched at the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, and have organized against Black Lives Matter protests in recent months.

Miles Taylor, a former Trump appointee who served as Chief of Staff to Homeland Security secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, said during an interview on CNN Tuesday night that the president's refusal to criticize the Proud Boys is "disqualifying from the presidency."

"I helped run the department responsible for thwarting terrorist threats to Americans," Taylor said. "I'm sad to say a U.S. President is winking and nodding at violent groups that threaten American lives and our way of life."

America today is Weimar, just a little push in the wrong direction and we will have open street warfare in some cities. This is bad. This is a portent of things to come. If the virus explodes over the winter, with mass deaths and widespread lockdowns,as I believe it will, things could get ------- ugly.

Congress better be ready to give the people some means of support or they will riot in Ernest. This could mean martial law and the loss of our freedoms for a long time.

Just to be clear, exactly what happened was Wallace asked ------- to condemn white supremacists, he responded sure, i'll do anything, then went on to condemn Antifa. He was pushed on the issue and he asked who, what group, give him a name, Biden said Proud Boys. ------- responded with "Stand Back, Stand By".

So, no, this isn't a mis-statement, this isn't obfuscation, this isn't a poor choice of words.

In context, Trump's 'stand back, stand by' was followed by his suggesting 'something needs to be done' about Antifa, and the Proud Boys and other white supremacists should do the doing.

Jason Miller was just on MSNBC telling Chuck Todd that, in all actuality, Trump did disavow the Proud Boys "three times," and that Trump telling them to "stand back and stand by" was meant to influence them to allow police to do their jobs. If that was the case, he would have said "stand back and stand down." Anyone connected to the military knows that.

"Stand by" means be at the ready. Not "stand back." It's pathetic how stupid Jason Miller and his ilk perceive us to be.

Trump Allies Defend Him After White Supremacist Debate Remarks
www.bloomberg.com

...The White House and some GOP allies defended President Donald Trump's failure to explicitly condemn White supremacy at Tuesday's debate, while the only Black Republican senator called on the president to "correct" his comments.

Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina said he thought Trump "misspoke" in response to debate moderator Chris Wallace asking whether the president was willing to condemn White supremacists and militia groups. Scott said the president should clarify what he meant.

"I think he misspoke," Scott told reporters Wednesday at the Capitol. "I think he should correct it. If he doesn't correct it I guess he didn't misspeak."

White House aides and Trump allies mounted a defense of the president's remarks, in which he didn't denounce White supremacists and instead said the violent, far-right group Proud Boys should "stand back and stand by." He then pivoted to blaming the far-left anti-fascist movement known as antifa for violence, even though his nominee for Homeland Security secretary has said White supremacists are "most persistent and lethal threat" to the U.S. from within the country....

#29 | Posted by Jaspar at 2020-09-30 06:04 PM | Reply

No, no coup required. If he loses his term ends January 20th at noon. Physically removing him no matter the method would not be a coup. He would be trespassing.

Ahh the constant and consistent misunderstanding of what is going to happen in January.

Noone is going to be removing ------ from the White House. Noone is going to be taking him away in chains.

The coup will be by ------- with a papering of "legality".

The question is whether democrats will allow it.

It won't be up to them, but the SC and their new justice Trump most likely asked, 'do I have your loyalty?' before nominating her.

All Dems can do if the court throws the election to Trump is pack the court next time they have the WH and Senate. But I suspect Trump will be trounced in November, which will make the SC throwing him the election very unlikely.

Speaking of Trump and loyalty pledges, my wife and I plan to watch "The Comey Rule" with Jeff Daniels this weekend.

AU, American presidents "win" the election by 2 things. One, they win the EC and 2nd the losing candidate concedes. In 2000 Gore had a legitimate reason and method to contest Florida, which would have resulted in 2 sets of electors with 2 presidents elected. He chose, for the good of the country to concede (I would argue we would be far better off if he fought on).
Can you honestly state that ------- will concede under ANY circumstance?

He has already started the process of contesting the election. There will be many, many, many lawsuits in the battleground states.

At best, we will have dueling electors in a few battleground states resulting in 2 people claiming the presidency.

what's the point of a president asking for a pledge of loyalty from a potential SC nominee?

He has no power to enforce any loyalty once they are sworn into a lifetime position on the SCOTUS.

Thinly veiled comment from a frequent FB troll this morning...

"again and again you pound the table with useless --------- that no one cares about, I do hope that all of you that are so much better than the rest of us, are as equally prepared as you are bent on the destruction of our country as the real games commence.."

I hope the FBI is watching him.

In my rural county of 30,000, these people openly flaunt their willingness to back Trump on anything he asks for. They are willingly 'standing by'. They have infiltrated rural government and law enforcement offices all over America. I don't think anyone really knows to what extent they've infiltrated the military.

Will it devolve into a white supremacism insurgency? I don't know. But the similarities between the abilities of these people and the Taliban are striking. And as relatively wealthy Americans, they probably have far larger stockpiles of ammo than the Taliban.

The days after November 3rd may get really ugly.

"Michael Cohen already told you Trump is not leaving."

It's not his choice.

Unless someone can show me where I'm wrong, even if there is a question about the votes, Pelosi would still become president one the first day of the next term.

Like Yav mentioned earlier. It wouldn't be a coup to remove him from office. It would be a coup if he tried to stay.

Nov. 3 election day
------- is ahead and declares victory.
Voting continues in battleground states
------- argues voting is fraudulent
------- and the RNC file lawsuits
Republican legislatures and Governors in battleground states decide voting is fraudulent based on lawsuits.
Republican legislatures and Governors in battleground states select electors and who they will vote for in the Electoral College using voting tallies that benefit -------, i.e. eliminating those votes under lawsuit.
EC receives totals of EC based on Republican legislators and governors selections and re-elect -------.

So that is how ------- doesn't win the vote, but argues to remain in office. Oh and btw, that is what he is a. planning and b. telling you what he will be doing.

It gets interesting though based on the battleground state. Some (like PA) have republican legislatures but democratic governors. So in those states you could have dueling electors sent to the EC.

We theoretically could have 3 presidents on January 21, 2020 (or 3 claimants to the presidency). -------, Biden and Pelosi (presuming she is reelected as Speaker).
