Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

There's a George Bernard Shaw quote that speaks to the dangers of debating Donald Trump: "I learned long ago never to wrestle with a pig," the adage goes. "You get dirty, and besides, the pig likes it."

If the debate is judged by who spent the most time letting the other disturb him emotionally, then Biden won. Trump looked and behaved sclerotic through much of the night. Fifty-fifty he went home nd hit something.

I agree. Trump was unhinged and spitting throughout. Biden flashed just enough anger for the audience to know he's a human being like them.

What we saw from Trump last night is what it's like to work in the White House.

But toward the end, he flushed up nicely.

Trump slipped into overt paranoia in the last segment. Given a chance to commit to a peaceful transfer of power he spent his time convincing the American people that he doesn't support that at all.

Those looking for an authoritarian American state were encouraged by last night. Those of us who enjoy living in a democracy were left hoping Trump's behavior and appearance during the debate mean that he might have a fatal stroke.

Listened to Joe Scarborough this morning and he was questioning whether Biden should even show up for another debate like that.
I always do think of things that Biden should have brought up such as the fact that his nominee for the Supreme Court questions the legitimacy of the 13th, 14th and 15th amendments to the Constitution. After this appointment if any minority member votes for Trump they are out of their minds.

#11 Exactly. Trump did zero prep. All he had was conspiracy theories and lies. He just decided he is going to shout over Biden and violate the rules his campaign agreed to. No ideas. No plan. No record. He was a joke.

Biden called him a clown and it was the perfect summation of how that idiot behaved last night.

In one sense some may view Trump as the boss of this country. Can you imagine if you, or someone you love, had a boss who acted like Trump? After last night's performance, which demonstrates just how much Trump is a 74 year old, spoiled man baby, how many people now believe Trump "alone can fix" the multitude problems/issues facing our country? How many voters now think, "This man gets it. This man represents me. I trust this man to look out for my best interests and the best interests of my loved ones. I trust this man with the nuclear codes and with making life and death decisions for all of us. I trust Donald Trump to run this big, sprawling country for the next 4 years"?

It is clear that Trump's goal was to interrupt enough to get Biden off track and confused so that they could piece clips together still showing their view that Biden is losing his mental faculties. They want to take him down by saying he is too old and senile to lead the country because Trump himself has nothing to offer.

There is such a thing as the dry drunk syndrome, which I believe can apply to former drug users as well. I know Trump doesn't drink, but if he had a cocaine habit once upon a time, it's not beyond the realm of possibility that he is suffering from the syndrome now despite the fact that he isn't an active cocaine user:

Trump's mistake by the lake: Taking his own voters for granted

Down in the polls, the president needed to win back onetime supporters who agree with him on policy but dislike his temperament. He failed at that spectacularly on Tuesday night.

The behind-the-scenes ugliness that's been documented in countless first-person accounts of the president's behavior was on display for tens of millions of Americans to see.

You know it's true. You can't send a stutterer to debate an interrupter. Every time biden was struggling to say a talking point or statistic was just one more opening for trump to jump in and derail his thought and it worked over and over.

Trump talked over biden and biden wouldnt raise his voice to match. He'd just let trump drown him out.

Trump would lob softballs to biden that he wouldn't even swing at. No mention of how mask wearing matters for the president because the president is a role model, and trump mocking masks was getting thousands of people killed?
Barely any mention of the fact he was impeached, lets his kids run the government, put lobbyists in charge of everything, let bankers run the economy for the benefit of the rich, after he said he'd drain the swamp? No mention of all his broken promises from the last election?

Are the dems hoping that suddenly people will vote for the most polite candidate instead of the strongest fighter?

So why wasn't his behavior a game changer in 2016? He did all the same crap. Suddenly you think people are going to realize he's rude and aggressive? He won despite all that last time, or perhaps because of it.

The victory dance dems are doing today shows how deluded they are about how non dems view trump. A lot of people trust and respect him BECAUSE he's an -------. His power is his bubble of delusion and how he sucks you into it. Biden's job was to penetrate and pop that bubble and he failed. He let trump's lies just fly out into the homes of voters unchallenged, too slow to keep up with trump's onslaught of lies.

I hate trump more than anyone in the world, which is why I want dems to beat him. And the way to beat him is not to say - look how poorly behaved he is! Everyone already knows that. This was bidens chance to embarrass, neuter, and expose him in front of the world, but biden was too busy following the rules and trying to muster a comeback from his rusty brain.

For being the most harmful human being on the planet, besides perhaps putin.

Trump would never have been elected if dems hadn't sold out the working class decades ago in exchange for wall street's bribe money.

People were so sick of insiders and elites running america that they gave the job to a reality tv star con artist instead.

The lesson dems learned? "Well maybe if we offer them an old white MAN sellout instead of an old white WOMAN sellout, we can win."

Come January, Democrats will, once again, be asking: What happened!?!?

Speaks is right, though, off target on the true issue.

------- did nothing last night that anyone with 2 brain cells didn't already know about the "man".

You were expecting decorum from a "man" who mocks the disabled and claims menstrual blood is coming from a woman's eye sockets?

The nation is divided. The lines have been drawn. ------- is 3 steps ahead of the democrats.

Democrats are worried about votes, when ------- is making votes irrelevant. He is screaming it at you and you are ignoring him. And once again to your detriment.

The number one concern over the past 4 years was election security. Nothing was done and ------- will win because of it.

For ----- sake if voting is the ----------- ------- claims it is, how come he has done nothing if 4 years to address the problem.

We are ------, but go ahead blame Bernie, blame Biden, blame Hillary.

When the true menace to our country is in the White House. And he is fighting a battle the democrats are completely unprepared to fight.

Dems talk about the little guy then take bribes from wall street. Or in obama's case, campaign on wall street's collapsing the economy, and then letting them off the hook once he was elected.

The only ones happier with a republican in office are racists, sociopaths, and morons too dumb to know why it's bad for them.

Steve bannon gave away the game himself when he said if dems every pursued populism repubs would never win again. But dems are too stupid to do what would work. Speaksoftly has a point about the Dems corporate sellout. Obama didn't thrash the banksters,he coddled them, nobody was charged or went to prison. If the Dems would really BE a party of Everyman they would crush the elitist repubs.

Unfortunately, the Dems sold out for corporate cash long ago. They are now the republican lite.

This hurts their Credibility with the regular wage earners. Trump was a blank slate in 2016.

He made pretty noises about helping the little guy. He actually seemed to notice the rural poor. This combined with widespread racism and fear of illegals got him over the finish line by a ---- hair.

He won't win again. He has a record as president now. He's no longer a blank slate.

His die hard mostly racist supporters are dead enders. They are too few in number and too offensive in demeanor to carry the day again.

The rubes are waking up to his incompetent and malevolent persona.

Trump is a political dead man walking and he more than anyone else.

KNOWS IT.

They don't worry about sins or the teachings of Jesus. It's all about hating the right people for not fitting THEIR perception of the Bible...even thought the Bible never supports their positions and often contradicts it.

Taking care of the less fortunate and avoiding Greed is half the damn New Testament. But they are more concerned with homosexuality and abortion...which aren't even in the Bible unless you mistranslate it and then ignore the context and then misinterpret it and then amplify it.

The popular vote is a total count of the votes submitted by all Americans.

Including North Carolina.

Sorry if these facts are unacceptable to your worldview.

But they're still the facts.

The accumulated vote, from all 50 states in the United States of America, totaled in Hillary Clinton's favor.

Trump won the electoral college. Which, based on the uneven distribution of representation for people in Wyoming compared to people in California. Can be considered arbitrary.
