In light of the messiness from the first debate between President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden, the Commission on Presidential Debates has announced that they will implement new measures to facilitate a more-controlled discourse in their future events.

The possible changes are endless. Perhaps a timeout corner for Trump. Or no Fox and Friends if he misbehaves?

Put a shock collar on Trump and use it anytime he's talking out of turn.

Wait, you think Trump will agree to another debate after that disaster?

Do you think Trump thinks that he did something bad?

He went home to a pack of jellyfish telling him that he's a genius.

Yes, for a few reasons.

1) He thinks he won. He always thinks he won.
2) He craves the attention. Public attention is like ambrosia to the narcissist.
3) If he backs out, people will think he chickened out.
4) He's in bad shape in the polls and needs Biden to gaffe on stage to reinforce his JoeMentia message.
5) He is an idiot who routinely makes bad decisions.

I can think of a real good change they can make that will help us all.

No more debates. What's the point?

You cannot debate with a dishonest egotistical liar.

Mandy Patinkin nailed it.

Have the microphone automatically shut off after the 2 minutes has elapsed and not turn on again until it is their turn to speak.

You think you saw a meltdown yesterday? Wait until you keep this President from being heard. Watch him pull out his phone to rage tweet in the middle of Biden's answers.

"You think you saw a meltdown yesterday?"

Yup!!!

Trumpy will just walk over and yell into Biden's mike.

Some folks just cant believe or won't allow themselves to believe what they are dealing with yet.

They really need to get their believers fixed before it is too late.

33 days to go. 207,000 American deaths. 43,000 new cases a day. 7 million infections. 1000 deaths a day. 33,000 more unnecessary American deaths due to our Presidents criminal negligence until we can maybe finally see a light at the end of this long dark tunnel.

Let's hope it's not another train of death heading our way.

"Trumpy will just walk over and yell into Biden's mike."

If the subject wasn't so serious it would be hysterical.

IIRC, the next debate is a town hall. Trump could stalk Biden around like he did to Clinton in 2016. Unless they commission also requires (in light of 2016) candidates stay seated when it isn't their turn to speak.

God, Trump is like a kindergartner with a myriad of psychological and psychiatric issues.

Want a real debate? Start here:

-pick specific topics, e.g., the US government response to the Coronavirus pandemic.
-Trump defends the response, and Biden argues in the negative (other times Biden defends topics such as the ACA, and Trump argues in the negative)
-Topics are selected in advance, so each person can prepare before the event
-one person at a time is at one microphone
-each turn is 5 minutes. Speakers can end early, but cannot go longer
-when not their turn to speak, the person sits down, away from the microphone. Only the speaker stands
-no audience--only the moderator, broadcast crew and security
-each speaker has a designated amount of time in which to speak, after which the microphone is turned off
-if the speaker doesn't sit down after their turn, or the other person in the debate jumps up too soon, you lose your turn. Shout out, you lose your turn
-each speaker gets two turns per topic, then the topic is no longer discussed. Go back to the old topic, and you lose your turn
-topics include matters of Trump policy from his administration, and matters each candidate has declared support for, going forward into the next presidential term

First, viewers will hear real responses, or will see candidates who have no ability to discuss topics and issues of the day. Second, if either person acts up, they will be called on it, with consequences which will hurt their chances. Last, each person will be forced to talk TO each other and the moderator, and not PAST each other.

I think this would be great. It will never happen, nor will anything like it...

That's mostly the format for my daughter's debate league. On its face they seem like reasonable recommendations but even if the candidates themselves would agree to them and actually stand by them the American people would never tolerate it. Especially the lose your turn part.

Please.

No more of these "debates".

I am not going to watch them if they do.

It's pointless and a waste of time and only gives Trumpy a platform for more his hateful lies. I am sick of him and them.

Put a soundproof tube around Tr*** and let him drown himself in his word spittle

Do we even need another debate?
I would think that 98% of the people
already have their minds made up, and the
other 2% are members of that hopeless
group that never seem to be able to decide
anything...

Guess we don't need those debates now...
