People fought to the death to win Americans the right to vote. Now the GOP wants to steal it from them.

And this is how democracy in America slowly gets strangled to death. Good job GOP.

Americans, and Texans in particular, are an especially rebellious (no pun intended) bunch. Taking something away or limiting access to something usually makes us angry and encourages us to do it more.

I'm not sure if I'd bet on this resulting in higher turnout, but its definitely a possibility.

He wants the voters to know what it's like to be disabled like him.

Governor Abbott thinks that Texas is Blue this year. Like the coward that he is, he's frightened enough to cheat.

I'm not a great believer in coincidences. Trump's self-immolation on national television earlier in this week has something to do wit this.

Trust Texans to vote only when they vote your way, Governor? You and Trump are equally scum.

#6 | Posted by Zed at 2020-10-01 06:58 PM | Reply

What possible reasoning could he give for this?

There's still time to make him explain it to a judge.

OK, non-existent voter fraud is the reason, got it.

That Abbott is as dirty as Trump now.

Just as a point of reference, Harris County, which contains Houston, is almost 5 million people and 1,800 square miles. They get one drop-box, just like Borden County, which has 640 people.

Texans should be angry, and that anger should be focused squarely upon the GOP that is toying with their lives during a pandemic.

Would it be unreasonable to mail it like millions of other letters?

The GOP did the same thing in Ohio, until a judge said they couldn't:

In a sane nation governed by laws with ramifications for those who sabotage the vote, that would be a great idea.

Unfortunately, our nation is governed by a murderous criminal who has done everything in his power to sabotage the postal service and mail votes in order to steal an election. He also suggested that he would not agree to a peaceful transition of power if he loses, because he can't imagine how a president with a negative approval rating for his entire term could lose an election.

The TX governor is just as complicit, and will likely do everything he can to judiciously toss out as many votes as he needs to achieve his ends.

So yeah, mailing in one's votes might be considered unreasonable in Texas.

It should give every Republican great cause for concern that Texas is in real danger of turning blue.

I wonder if Republicans can figure out where things went wrong...

I am certain Democrats will be filing for an injunction if they haven't already.

But some of the damage will already be done. At least some people who are on the margins will have heard of this and decided it's not worth risking their life to vote at the one polling place in their county, and won't hear about or understand any injunction entered against this. And if Texas is won or lost by a few votes, that could be the difference.

Republicans are scum.

Lucifer would be mortified to be associated with these incompetent R-Tards. tRump is most certainly not the "anti-christ"...if such a thing were even true, he would be quite suave and charming. tRump is just loud and pathetic.

I sure hope this mask-wearing ----- schtick is just an overly-dramatic act of strategic political theatre in which you're consciously playing a part.

if you believe you're going to be killed by fresh air, sunlight, and hugs, we might just have to move forward without you.

Is that what you think masks slow the transmission rate of?

#31 | Posted by JOE at 2020-10-01 09:52 PM | Reply

Well this is stupid. Abbot uses emergency powers resulting from a pandemic to congregate people in one place to drop off absentee ballots under the guise of "security." A state statute limits drop off of absentee ballots to the office of the voter registrar, including annexes (Harris County has 11 annexes) that are typically located in a courthouse. Courthouses are generally considered "secure" facilities because you have to go through a d**n metal detector to get in the place. Prior to this, I haven't heard or read one word about ballot drop off being a problem or controversial. That will now change, I'm sure.

There, is that Republican enough for you, POS Troll?
