Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Thursday said he hadn't been to the White House in over two months because the Trump administration weren't strictly following coronavirus guidelines and are now "paying the price for it."

"If any of you've been around me since May the 1st, I've said 'wear your mask, practice social distancing, it's the only way we know of to prevent the spread until we get a vaccine," he said.

"And we've practiced that in the Senate. Now you've heard about other places that have had a different view and they are, you know, paying the price for it."

It's not like he could have said something since, you know, May.

@#1 ... It's not like he could have said something since, you know, May. ...

This is, imo, a significant change in approach.

Very significant.

Noteworthy significant.

I am left wondering what is behind this very strange public admission of Sen McConnell.

Friday is going to be a bumpy day.

1st McConnell throws the WH under the bus, Pelosi threatens the 25th Amendment, then Pence announces he is coming to DC on Friday.

Possibly a signal to the republicans that he is done protecting -------, which would hint at him having a deal with Pelosi over the 25th Amendment. Probably just a threat to get ------- to shut the ---- up about the nazis waiting in the wing over the election.

On top of all that, Trump threatens to fire A.G. Barr. That's called biting the hand that feeds you.

Considering Trump mental condition I wouldn't be surprised of they all jumped ship (the 25th Amendment) ~~ not to save the country because that opportunity is long gone, but rather to save themselves.

It may be their only claim for mercy, post Trump.

Despite McConnell's protestations he has been insisting on masks and social distancing three GOP colleagues are now in quarantine.

A President Pence would be far less spiteful and would require much less ring kissing for a pardon.

A President Pence may be more difficult for Biden to defeat. I think it's a bad move by Pelosi.

Anyone connected to Tr*** is going to find it quite hard, maybe impossible, to wash off that stain

Trump has not paid the "price" yet.

Trump never pays full price anyway.

Someone else usually has to pay for Trumpy's mistakes.

In this case it's hundreds of thousands of dead Americans who paid the full and ultimate price for Team Trumpy's criminal negligence and disastrous incompetence.

Republicans nationally have been methodically weaponizing militia-types for decades, and I agree that Trump is bringing this issue to national attention.

It's out of control, the Republicans and their enablers. They should really just go full dictatorship if they have any hopes of remaining in power. It's going to be a slaughterfest over the next couple elections, giving them even more reason to misbehave, imo. We have only begun to witness them turning on each other.

I'm not so sure. It would be Pence and the cabinet largely behind Trump's ouster via the 25th amendment. Trump's base is loyal to Trump and not Pence, so that ultimate act of betrayal would sink Pence.

I don't think it'll happen simply for the reason above.

All that matters to McTurtle is the judicial appointment.

Trump will be thrown under the bus - hopefully he fits.

Losangel: I agree with you. I think McConnell is more than happy to throw Trump under the bus. He is ruthless and without morals, but it is all directed at maximizing every possible advantage for the GOP, especially in the Senate.

An order by President Donald J. Trump diverted a draft memo by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that would have required all passengers and employees to wear masks on all forms of public and commercial transportation across the nation, according to two federal health officials.

More than 40,000 Americans per day become infected with COVID-19 and the CDC mask mandate would have been a tough federal guideline to help curb or stop the spread of transmission, decreasing the overall viral load in cities and states in a uniform manner. The order was drafted under the CDC's "quarantine powers," which had the support of the secretary of health and human services, Alex M. Azar II. However, the head of the Coronavirus Task Force, U.S. Vice President Mike Pence, denied to hear it.

Representative Peter A. DeFazio, Democrat of Oregon and chairman of the House committee on transportation and infrastructure, said, "It's especially outrageous because the science is so clear: masks safe lives. The millions of Americans who work in and use our transportation systems every day - from bus drivers, train conductors and flight attendants, to the frontline workers who rely on public transit - deserve to know their president is relying on experts' best advice and doing everything possible to keep them safe."

We are ALL paying the price of Team Trumpy's criminal negligence and disastrous incompetence.

That includes the criminal negligence of the US senate too.

Back away from the President, slowly and don't make eye contact. And now, run away!
