Barr must be attempting to find some sort of parachute out of the flaming Trump plane.

I don't know what the significance--if any--of this might be, but this happened earlier in the week:

Texas U.S. Attorney John Bash, tapped to investigate Obama administration for "unmasking," resigns

Earlier this summer, Attorney General William Barr tapped Bash to investigate the Obama administration for allegations of "unmasking" before and after the 2016 presidential election. U.S. intelligence routinely conceals the identities of Americans whose communications are intercepted in the course of monitoring foreigners. Those names are anonymous in intelligence reports, but can be "unmasked" to provide more information for intelligence. Trump allies in Congress pledged to investigated the practice which led to the unmaking of former national security adviser Michael Flynn's identity in certain intelligence documents related to the investigation into Russian election interference.

Actually the so-called "unmasking" scandal is a non-starter. The only time someone like the head of an intelligence service, including the FBI and even the Executive office (i.e. President and Vice-President) need to get a warrant to "unmask" someone recorded on a wiretap is if the only people on the call were Americans. If one or more individuals on the call is a foreign national, even if others on the call were Americans, there is no need to "unmask". The "masking" law is to protect Americans who are recorded as part of an investigation, but if they're recorded on a call in which they were not the target of the investigation, there is no protection, their identity is available to anyone who has the need to know what the content of the conversation was. In other words, we were recording the Russian officials, as is standard practice, so when someone like Michael Flynn is heard on the call, that's just tough for him. He said he never talked to the Russians, but they had tapes, so the FBI knew is was lying, and no one needed him to be "unmasked" for the FBI to know that, or for that matter, the President or Vice-President.

The report doesn't prove what Republicans wanted it to.

So they're burying it.

I'm sure Barr is telling the GOP behind closed doors that they found NOTHING! It's been looked into by the GOP House Intel and the GOP Senate Intel committees and the IGs office and they found NOTHING! You can be sure that Durham has come up dry or Drumpf's henchman Barr would be trumpeting it from the rooftops. Barr even promised an interim Durham investigation report before the election, but he can't even put his big fat thumb on the scale to give them at least a couple of scandalous accusations. Barr won't close the investigation until after the election so that the GOP can still claim that Biden and Obama are under investigation because Dotard, Barr and the Reichwing noise machine have convinced the inbred fever swamp that Durham is finding all kinds of corruption and nefarious dealings and indictments are on the way any day now. What will happen is that at the end of the day on Xmas eve, Barr will quietly close the investigation with as little fanfare as possible.

@#4 ... The report doesn't prove what Republicans wanted it to. ...

That was my impression early this past summer ago when AG Barr first mentioned that there might be a delay from his election-oriented target date of August (around the GOP convention date).

The investigator(s) were not finding what AG Barr wanted them to find.

There was also...

Nora Dannehy, Connecticut prosecutor who was top aide to John Durham's Trump-Russia investigation, resigns amid concern about pressure from Attorney General William Barr
www.courant.com

...Federal prosecutor Nora Dannehy, a top aide to U.S. Attorney John H. Durham in his Russia investigation, has quietly resigned " at least partly out of concern that the investigative team is being pressed for political reasons to produce a report before its work is done, colleagues said.

Dannehy, a highly regarded prosecutor who has worked with or for Durham for decades, informed colleagues in the U.S. Attorney's office in New Haven of her resignation from the Department of Justice by email Thursday evening. The short email was a brief farewell message and said nothing about political pressure, her work for Durham or what the Durham team has produced, according to people who received it....

My first question is, why is it that the Attorney General of the United States of America is telling only REPUBLICANS about the status of a DOJ investigation? Isn't he supposed to be working for ALL Americans, Democrats, Republicans and independents alike?

Also, it's being reported that this may be the straw that breaks the camel's back. Last night on Hanity's show, Trump said he was frustrated with Barr for failing to arrest any of the people who had committed treason before and after the last election. He went so far as to suggest that if he wins in November, that he might have to take action himself, personally. There's also hints that Trump has been confiding in some of his closest supporters that he's already fired one Attorney General, that he can fire another one, and put someone in place who'll do what they're told.

Because the investigation was a political one from the outset.

Or they know they're going down no matter what and plan to use it to put a Biden administration immediately behind the 8 ball.

#11 - yes, that would follow. What is Barr waiting on?! Does someone have something else on him? Does Trump only appoint cretins he has something on, maybe via Putin? They all looooove money, it's probably related to laundering embezzled funds.

It's probably worse than nothing. He probably found more evidence the the investigation was warranted and putin's involvement in the campaign and control over trump is even worse than dems have accused.

Texas U.S. Attorney John Bash, tapped to investigate Obama administration for "unmasking," resigns

The time has come for top level Trump officials to stop resigning and wait to be fired. They should then let it be known why they are being fired.

Agreed! Getting fired by Donald Trump should be worth at least 5 gold stars on a resume' and one or two offers of a book deal.
