Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Monday, October 12, 2020

Prominent evangelical leaders have just released a statement urging pro-life evangelicals to vote for Joe Biden. The signers include John Huffman, board chair emeritus of Christianity Today; Richard Foster, best-selling author of Celebration of Discipline [and] Jerushah Duford, Billy Graham's granddaughter ... Their statement acknowledges that "as pro-life evangelicals, we disagree with Vice President Biden and the Democratic platform on the issue of abortion." "But we believe," the statement continues, "that a biblically shaped commitment to the sanctity of human life compels us to a consistent ethic of life that affirms the sanctity of human life from beginning to end. I see the left quietly loving this because right now the democratic party will accept votes from Nazi's themselves in order to win.

And this is a good thing.....these Evangelicals aren't expecting anything in return with regards to abortion.

We sorta had this thread on the Front Page when the article came out, with some interesting comments.

I believe they expect their views to be respected. I for one, do not.

Stem cell research could be a true cornerstone to inflammatory mitigation - who knows, we'll never find out if these cretins are left to decide.

Appeasing to the far right is disgusting, but if they are sincere in their regard for Trump as a threat to everybody's existence than yes, I will hold my nose and contentedly skinnydip in the Jordan alongside.

It's also an acknowledgement from that group for everyone else to see that they aren't just about abortion and that being pro-life isn't about abortion only. It's about other issues that protect life.

Biden is Pro Life for himself.

Pro Choice for everyone else.

Which is how it should be.

Live your life the best you see fit.

Leave others to do the same.

The Republican Party has that vote locked up.

#7 - Other conservative evangelical issues? Such as ruining marriage for gay people? How is that working out so far? Popular opinion turning against you? State and Federal authorities calling out your bigotry? Membership in decline? Regardless your prosperity parasite clergy, money is not going to make the world like your regressive beliefs. Stem cell research has been so promising - yet, our zealots in charge command that isn't kosher.

Faith in the faith is a disgusting propaganda having nothing to do with a greater spiritual purpose. Be skeptical of each other, such fellowship are surly dismissive of their political purpose in the guise of pious restraint. Taking away healthcare, imprisoning children, de-legitimizing marriages, defunding Big Bird all seem to point away from "love thy neighbor".

In light of the fact that Trump is only alive because of a series of abortions dating back to the 1970's people who are prolife need no longer feel compelled to vote for him and are there for free to vote for the candidate most likely to increase funding for foster care and adoption services.

Um. No. The Nazi-loving Party, time and time again,
has been proven to be the GOP...

Just Google it, Dilbert...(erm, Eberly),
it's all over the Internet...

Your worst post ever Eberly. You have absolutely no basis to make such a claim while Trump actively welcomes and defends Nazis and all sorts of other hate groups. Remember Charlottesville...."there are good people on both sides." Give me a break, I actually try to read your posts and not react over the top but this morning....that post was disgusting.

When you just repaint everything as a "life or death issue", then nothing is. If poverty kills people, then turn your attention to where that poverty exists - densely urban inner cities. Strictly speaking, very few in America really live in poverty. Spend some time in a Calcutta slum, or a favela in Columbia. THAT is poverty that no one in America experiences.

"Strictly speaking, very few in America really live in poverty."

Strictly speaking, you are simply defining the problem out of existence.

Yes, Eberly.
The Death Penalty protects life.
So does the Second Amendment.
Nothing to see here, just GOP Mythology.

Like alleviating hunger and homelessness, ensuring sick people get well without going bankrupt .. and the list goes on.

But most evangelical Christians are 'cafeteria Christians' who pick and choose part of the Bible to justify anything and ignore what the namesake of Christianity taught, acting as though protecting life ends when people are born.

Most of them would fail the "Matthew 25: 31-45 test."

-Your worst post ever Eberly.

thanks! I'm always looking to improve.

My point was that the dems want to win, and I don't blame them. They'll gladly take a vote from a pro-life evangelical and even some worse groups. Actually my point was to exaggerate your lowly opinion of pro-life evangelicals to equal that of a nazi. Not to insinuate democrats want anything to do with Nazis.

But not rape abortions. This is an existential threat for conservatives. If rape victims can get easy and legal abortions, then the conservative gene will die out.

That's what this comes down to. They know that if they give power to women to choose, they will go extinct; because they are a regressive kind with no place in modern society. Consent is death for conservatism.
