Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Saturday, October 17, 2020

U.S. Sen. David Perdue purposefully flubbed the name of Joe Biden's running-mate Kamala Harris at a rally Friday for President Donald Trump in Macon, drawing immediate criticism from his Democratic challenger Jon Ossoff and others who called it a "racist tactic." As Perdue warned that the Democratic presidential ticket of Biden and Harris would bring "radical socialism" to the country if elected, Perdue dramatically struggled with Harris' name, to the delight of the crowd. "Kamala? Kamala? Kamala-mala-mala? I don't know. Whatever."

Well, I guess Perdue hasn't seen enough black people standing in long lines in Georgia just to vote because of Gov. Kemp's voter suppression tactics and he wanted to see even more come out to vote him out of office.

Making fun of Kamala's name down in Georgia at a Trump klan rally?

This is going to cost him the election if there are any number of Republicans left in Georgia who aren't senselessly drunk on Trump's poisonous kool-aide.

The notion that "c-c-conservatism" isn't dripping with racism or, at the least, outsider-ism is absurd.

Kamala is a nice name. It means lotus. The Lotus is a flower that turns swamp water into a fragrant flower. It's a symbol of rebirth. The name has a lot of positive connotations in Asia... the place where more than half the world lives and we are set to do a lot of business with.

Cl0wns really need to get over themselves with this.

Phester,

Stop feigning moral outrage.

Every president gets called names.

Obama had a catalogue of names used against him.

Same with BushJr, Clinton, BushSr, RayGun.

The point of this article isn't, "what mean things Americans call the president."

It's the fact that David Perdue and Kamala Harris are co workers.

Yet somehow Perdue suddenly forgot Kamala's name. Cause it's so weird. Are we sure she's even an American? She's brown and her name is weird. Probably another secret Kenyan Muslim.

It puts the other person down. Demand and degrades them. Make them appear to be the "Other". Not one of "us".

And in Trumplandia we are being taught that there is no "Other". They are not to be tolerated. We will get them "Other" the hell out of here. And that will make America great. Again. And we don't need to be nice about it either.

Bomber or Phester...

Since you want to defend it, please do so. Please explain to us why someone who serves in the Senate with her, who served on the same committee with her, would mispronounce her name. What are you claiming?

That after all that time as a colleague he STILL hasn't had the common decency of learning her name?

Or, as we all know is the case, that he is INTENTIONALLY mispronouncing her name?

So, what motivation would he have to mispronounce her name? The theory presented by liberals (backed up by evidence from previous conservative behavior) is that the purpose is a racist dog whistle, to try to make her sound "foreign" and "unamerican". But, you have soundly refected that theory. So, what us yours? What motivation do YOU think a senator, charged with upholding the dignity and respect of the Senate, our most respected legislative body, would have for mispronouncing one of his colleagues names like a five year old?

And, while you are at it, also explain why conservatives would laugh and cheer at the mispronunciation. What do they think is so funny? You claim that they are not cheering a racist dog whistle. Is it just that you think that conservatives are as simple minded as elementary school aged kids, so find their preferred type of insult hilarious?

I really want to know what you think... how you justify this behavior in your mind. Though, probably you are just deflecting from something even you can tell us racist.

Drumpf is the actual family name in German before Trump's grandfather changed it once immigrating to America, so it is not a slur, it's simply a historical fact.

Orange is the hue of the self-tanner that he himself chooses to use which he thinks makes him look more attractive per Ivanka's own writing about the topic, including how he dyes and swirls his hair into his usual style everyday.

Donald Trump's Contempt For Black Women On Full Display In Scathing New Video

Bestselling author Don Winslow's latest viral video calls out President Donald Trump over his years-long racist rhetoric and contempt for Black women.

In the 88-second spot shared Friday on YouTube, the narrator begins by noting Trump's "long history of racism" before pointing out that the president "especially hates Black women."

The ad includes clips of Trump verbally attacking and insulting Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) as well as journalists Abby Phillip, Yamiche Alcindor and April Ryan, showing that the accusation is "not hyperbole," the voiceover says.

@#56 ... What motivation do the hate mongers have to refer to our POTUS as Drump? Etc etc? ...

I think you might also want to add a question of why some folk have, and continue to, refer to a former President as Obummer (or worse).

In other words, your outrage seems to be more crocodile tears than anything else.

Really.

Is such faux outrage the best you have to offer here?

Would it have been petty if she started calling him Frank Perdue?

"Since you want to defend it, please do so. Please explain to us why someone who serves in the Senate with her, who served on the same committee with her, would mispronounce her name. What are you claiming?"

The mispronunciation was 100% intentional. Likely because she gets testy when people mispronounce her name, which many people will do.

The claim that it was racially motivated is nothing more than simple opportunism. About as childish as intentionally mispronouncing her name.

"The mispronunciation was 100% intentional. Likely because she gets testy when people mispronounce her name, which many people will do."

I think it was likely because mispronouncing her name emphasizes her foreignness, her otherness since she doesn't have a common, American sounding name. Could that give his mispronunciation an undercurrent of racism? I think so. But, hey, at least he didn't call her a monster while he was at it.

Then vote for Democrats. They have shown themselves to be supporters of reducing the amount of money in politics.

Though, it was interesting to hear the little snowflake Lindsey Graham whine about all the money in politics after he got so substantially outraised this year. Typical conservative... "It's not a problem until it personally affects *ME*. If it is immoral or unjust, doesn't matter. But when it has a negative impact on *ME*, then suddenly it becomes a fight worth fighting."

There is only one person to blame for the hate and division on display in America.

Trumpy has earned every bit of disgust and ridicule that is being heaped upon him. In fact he has earned so much more than that. He has earned some prison time too.

I have never seen a group of Americans so self unaware as Deplorables.

Your cult leader has reduced political discourse to childish insults and petty name calling. And you blame the people for speaking back at a corrupt power that is criminally negligent and disastrously incompetent.

215,000 Americans have already died. How many more need to die because he and his ignorant followers cannot talk intelligently about the things that actually matter.

When I read threads like this, it just reminds me what conservatives in this country have become. Not that many were not always that way but they at least had the sheen of "adulthood" and were not so openly racist and not openly appealing to the racists out there - making it seem normal. This is how wars are started. Look at history and you will find these tactics time and again.

What a frigging hypocrite.

You despicables are right there.

The claim that it was racially motivated is nothing more than simple opportunism.

That's pretty stupid, even for you.

I'm thinking that about 100% of racists in the audience laughed at his "mispronunciation," and maybe 50% of non-racists. At minimum he was catering to the racists in his audience. If we're going to really strain to defend the guy (like you are), I think the absolute farthest we can go is to say he was ignorant of how appealing to racists his pathetically childish "mispronunciation" would be.

In the meantime, grow up. You sound like someone who could be smart if you tried, but you choose to remain in the dark.

Like it matters what we call it.

Conservatism is the art of finding out how many angels can dance on the head of the poin of intolerance.

They can always fit another angel in there somehow.

If you're tired of being called racist, stop being a racist or voting to put one in the white house.

Already happened. All the best presidents get impeached. If trump wins the election he'll be the first president ever to be impeached twice. Or maybe about 20 times if they impeach him for each of his impeachable offenses.

I'm not saying it wasn't racist...I'm just saying that it's a stretch to assume it was.

My last name has been mispronounced many, many times. I don't think it was racism.
