New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has won a landslide victory in the country's general election. With most ballots tallied, Ms Ardern's centre-left Labour Party has won 49% of the vote and she is projected to win a rare outright parliamentary majority.

She won.

This is what competent leadership looks like.

It might be time to outsource US gov to NZ.

@#1 ... She won. ...

Not only did she win, but her party also won big. 64/120.

Her party will not need to form a coalition in order to govern. That had been a concern.

However, how well this plays out going forward depends entirely upon what her Labour Party plans to do, and does, going forward.

Something to watch...

Trump would score a landslide win too, if he had been half as successful in managing the pandemic.

"Trump would score a landslide win too, if he had been half as successful in managing the pandemic."

Trump's much too short-sighted to think of something like that. However, it didn't take him long to settle on the added stupidity of herd immunity as a defense strategy.

Now all he has to do is find 80% of the population willing to step into a burning furnace for him.

It's amazing that in March I conceded that Trump was just handed a layup to re-election. It blows my mind that he blew this and seemed to do every counter-logical thing possible to manage this pandemic. I've never seen such willful incompetence.

But then I realized this pandemic was the perfect catalyst to expose every flaw this man possesses, which of course are hundreds if not thousands.

Which really sucks for us.

So the question that historians may ask, was COVID 19 a blessing in disguise? It's a horrific question to ask, but there's another question that might be even more important:

Would, and if so, how much more damage would Trump do/have done in a second term relative to the current and projected future damage of the pandemic?

I honestly could imagine that America would have been in worse shape with 2 terms of Trump than an uncontrolled raging deadly viral pandemic and one Trump term.

I'm sure Alt-Earthers there can tell me since "the pandemic is totally under control"

Re 5.

You never know when the Gawds will decide to put a finger on the scales.

I thought for sure They were going to teach Trumptilians a lesson they would never forget.

But even They didn't count on the Steriods and the $100,000 Superman Cocktail combined with Trumpy's super narcissist powers.

She can thank Dotard and the other authoritarian leaders of the world for their incompetent responses to Coronavirus and then compare that to PM Ardern's science based response. She saved thousands of lives.
