A federal judge rebuked the Justice Department and the White House Counsel's Office on Friday for dismissing without explanation President Trump's "emphatic and unambiguous" tweets ordering the declassification of all documents in the government's probe of Russia's interference in the 2016 U.S. election.

DOJ Says Trump's Tweets Declassifying All Russia Investigation Docs Doesn't Mean Anything; Judge Says They Better Go Ask Him
www.techdirt.com

...This morning, in a hearing before Judge Reggie Walton (who is not known for being happy when the government plays games in front of him), it appears that Leopold's argument is absolutely winning the day. Walton told the DOJ that Trump's tweets seem pretty clear and he doesn't see how they can argue he didn't declassify stuff. He also seemed perturbed that no one actually asked the President what he meant, and postponed the rest of the hearing to tell the DOJ to go ask the President if he actually meant what he tweeted:

HOLY ---!

Judge Walton continues this hearing until next week. He specifically wants govt atty to get WH counsel to speak to Trump and find out intent of his declassification tweets and submit with the court

Of course, it now seems likely that the White House lawyers and the DOJ will very carefully explain to the President why they want him to say he didn't mean what he clearly said, potentially allowing him to walk back his fairly unequivocal statements. At the very least, though, that should enable reporters to question the President further on why he falsely claimed to have declassified stuff.

At the end of the day, either all of the documents have been declassified or the President will need to admit that he lied about declassifying them. ...

Sean Spicer Says President Trump Considers His Tweets 'Official' White House Statements (2017)
time.com

...resident Donald Trump considers his tweets to be official White House statements, according to Press Secretary Sean Spicer.

When asked at a press briefing whether Trump's tweets qualify as official statements on behalf of the White House, Spicer said that he "is the President of the United States, so they're considered official statements by the President of the United States."

The reporter then inquired if Trump is concerned that his tweets could be used against him in matters like the proposed travel ban. On Monday, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) said on Twitter that it might include Trump's tweets about the ban in their Supreme Court argument. The ACLU was referencing a series of tweets from the president on Saturday in which he reiterated his definition of the executive order as a "ban," rather than the "vetting system" label Spicer gave it earlier this year.

"I think we've made it clear with respect that the court should follow the law," Spicer replied. "And I think the danger is real, the law is clear, and there's no question that we should prevail at the Supreme Court."...

Like all of Trump's Vote Bait, doesn't have to be the truth. It just has to do the job ~~ Temporarily.

Example ~ "Who's going to pay for the Wall? MEXICO!"

Well Lamp that seems to be an open and shut case for the Judge to consider. I hope they do declassify them.

In addition to declassifying, would the redactions in the Mueller report be removed?

Sniffer is certainly doing something while he's posting.

I expect it has something to do with a spoon, a lighter, and a syringe.

Well, OK. It's a good history lesson.

Personally I prefer to think ahead about two weeks when America shows Trump what "For And BY The People" really means.
