Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Tuesday, October 20, 2020

The United States has confirmed 220,000 deaths from the coronavirus. The number of dead is likely higher. According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data the number of excess deaths that would not have occurred if Covid-19 had not existed is around 270,000. Back in July, the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), predicted that the U.S. would reach 220,000 deaths by November 1. Currently the IHME predicts that Covid will kill nearly 390,000 by Feb. 1. If fewer people wear masks and stop practicing social distancing then deaths will likely exceed 480,000, according to the model. Should the majority Americans simply wear masks, more than 70,000 lives in the U.S. would be spared.

Damn, this is a sad thread. Then Donald Trump tweets out insults about Dr. Anthony Fauci! We must get this lunatic out of the WH, it is predicted that by February 400,000 Americans will be dead from COVID while our President bashes the most trusted doctor in America.

In a country with a long, rich history of successful innovation in science, business, engineering, medicine, education and so many more areas of endeavour it is especially stinging and humiliating that our national leadership has not only failed so miserably, but also reveled in that failure when it comes to dealing with Covid...

When I was driving through red state hell over the weekend I caught a segment from the queen of harpies Dana Loesch about how "we are NOT cancelling Thanksgiving!" because "we have SACRIFICED so much!" and WE, the AMERICAN PEOPLE, are done sacrificing!

What's sick is she then went on to talk about all the people she know of who died, friends of friends ect, and how they had to die alone without loved ones near and how terrible it was for the families.

I honestly could not believe the stunning display of cognitive dissonance I had just listened to.

It was little more than an angry throwing in the towel and then describing, with a complete lack of awareness, the outcome of the very actions she was advocating as a rationale for the actions she was advocating.

I was listening to a campaign ad for Pres Trump a couple days ago.

It basically went along the lines of, ~the scientists projected over 2 million deaths from COVID-19 but, due to Pres Trump's actions, there were only 200,000 deaths.~

I immediately thought that there should be a correction to that ad.

Instead of "due to Pres Trump's actions" it should have been "in spite of Pres Trump's actions" or maybe even ~in spite of Pres Trump's inaction.~

It was the governors and local officials that fought the enemy virus. Pres Trump was mocking and giving the governors grief for fighting the enemy.

So, not only do Dems just completely ignore the Constitution and learn who actually holds power over pandemic impacts in each state, but they also completely ignore everything that anyone says if they aren't Trump. Any death past the beginning of June is the absolute responsibility of the people. Just like the 2008 crash, Dems just refuse to hold people accountable. They truly are trying to get everyone to accept the fact that they should be sheep and let the POTUS run their lives. By June, the POTUS and society itself told people to wear masks. Society told people to not gather in large groups. In that same month, Dems supported people gathering in large groups. They supported rioting, looting, and murder. But, yeah, keep pointing the finger at Trump. Then, if Trump wins in a few weeks, point that finger back at yourselves for allowing a man like him to win TWICE. Personal responsibility exists whether you want to ignore it or not.

So, not only do Dems just completely ignore the Constitution and learn who actually holds power over pandemic impacts in each state,

How does our federalist system forbid a federal level response? The feds handle all other interstate and international regulatory functions, why would a national pandemic response be different?

They truly are trying to get everyone to accept the fact that they should be sheep and let the POTUS run their lives.

Only a simpleton would think that having a POTUS "run their lives" is the only avenue by which Trump could have influenced the national tenor of the response.

It's almost as if their own sheep-like mindset is what limits righties from recognizing actual leadership.

In that same month, Dems supported people gathering in large groups. They supported rioting, looting, and murder.

Liar. And there still isn't evidence that the protests lead to significant increases in COVID cases whereas there is absolutely tons of evidence showing repub governors and their against all advice and scientific knowledge reopening policies did.

Then, if Trump wins in a few weeks, point that finger back at yourselves for allowing a man like him to win TWICE. Personal responsibility exists whether you want to ignore it or not.

Personal responsibility does exist. Which is why Trump voters need to take responsibility for destroying our country, especially if they reelect Trump.

@#10 ... Personal responsibility does exist. Which is why Trump voters need to take responsibility for destroying our country ...

"I don't take responsibility at all."

"Personal responsibility does exist. "

Although take note: Every time a Republican invokes "personal responsibility", they're talking about someone else.

One million Americans dead by next summer?

More deaths than the 1918-1919 pandemic?

Will the new government,if there is one, be able to stem the tide of deaths and disability?

The virus is firmly entrenched in our population. There may be no stopping these kind of numbers.

Trump and the Republicans have a lot to answer for.

No quarter if we win. Prison for the leadership.

No "looking forward,not back" BS.

LOCK THE ------- UP.

If Trumpy wins Americans deserve what happens to them.

Person responsibility does not exist in this White House.

Do you not believe Trumpy's own words? He is not responsible. Trumpy has no responsibility for his own criminally negligent conduct.

Because he said so.
