As he has throughout the pandemic, Trump downplayed the severity of the coronavirus during Thursday's final presidential debate. He talked about how he went to the hospital after his COVID-19 diagnosis but recovered quickly, implying that Americans can easily defeat the virus. "We're learning to live with it," Trump insisted.

Biden relayed a different reality. He spoke directly to Americans who lost loved ones to the pandemic, and then spun Trump's words into a message about all the Americans who have died. "Learning to live with it?" Biden questioned. "People are learning to die with it."

If Trump had told us the truth early on. He wouldn't have made money off on the drugs used to treat COVID.

We have 6 down here with it right now. Our county is one of the hotspots in Michigan. One of the 6 is about 28, a new mother and in the hospital on Oxygen. We had 2 earlier this summer when one of young people didn't know better than to quarantine and went to a party while awaiting his results and infected someone else at work.

Watching that effing interview with Trump just infuriated me. "We have more cases because we are doing more testing." I just wanted to punch him square in the face when he kept saying that --------.

In the converse, Trump DOES have his irretractable fan base, impressed by the shear magnificence of his intellect.

They'll even show you a study done by Bucktooth University on the muddy banks of the ol' Suwanee River to prove they are right and the world is wrong.

It's becoming increasingly obvious that TrumPeople just don't give a ---.

They're fine with anybody, including close family members, getting the virus and dying.

It's God's will.

ABGRYDAD

We (Democrats) knew back in 2016 that Trump didn't give a d**n.

We knew all he wanted was the title and the power it could buy. But much like the story of his life, he wasn't smart enough, nor did he posses the acumen, to hang onto it. He's a day trader. He relies on chaos to hide his incompetency. He's a user and a grifter. He's been selling illusions all his life. He's all glitz and glitter with no substance. He's as phony as pyrite.

Now he's just one big fat LOSER ~ back to the beginning where he started out many years ago.

You might even call Trump a victim of his own ignorance. Dictators around the world have pumped him up with flattery and empty promises ~ only to use him to further their own goals.

Allies are pointing fingers and laughing at him behind his back. He's an international joke.

In the NYC region, Connecticut and New Jersey are having upticks in cases. In Connecticut, the cases are mostly in the southeast part of the state that was passed over for the most part during the first wave, but there are a couple other hotspots. I haven't tracked down details on New Jersey.

New York State is doing well, except for a few isolated areas in NYC that eschewed wearing masks and social distancing. The positivity rate in those areas, once over 10%, is now dropping significantly as masks and social distancing become more prevalent.

New York State overall is doing quite well so far, with a positivity rate less than 2%.

"New York State overall is doing quite well so far, with a positivity rate less than 2%."

Is the positivity rate on a downward trend in some areas like New York State?

Are there folks predicting that continuing or leveling off at some level?

Possibly. But because there really was no follow-up tracing after the event, it is trying to ascertain an answer from incomplete data.

Go to that NRP link and scroll down to the heat map.

It may be easier to see where Sturgis is relative to the outbreaks.

Bernie Sanders @BernieSanders

Last night Trump said we are "rounding the corner" on the pandemic. Really? Yesterday a record-breaking 77,640 Americans tested positive for COVID-19"up 40% since July. Trump's lies and his rejection of science have cost us tens of thousands of lives. We need a new president.

Fauci: Trump has not been to a task force meeting in months

President Trump has not been to a White House coronavirus task force meeting in several months, Anthony Fauci said Friday.

During an interview on "Meet the Press Daily," the nation's top infectious disease doctor said he hasn't directly interacted with or spoken to Trump in some time.

"I definitely don't have his ear as much as Scott Atlas right now, that has been a changing situation," Fauci said.

Scott Atlas is a neuroradiologist and a fellow at the Hoover Institution, a conservative think tank. He was added to the task force over the summer after appearing frequently on Fox News.

Atlas has emerged as one of Trump's most influential advisers, but he has come under fire from public health experts inside and outside the administration who accuse him of feeding the president " and the public " misinformation....

Meanwhile, Americans are dying.

The 300 lb orange plague rat is going out with a bang.

The U.S. confirmed at least 83,010 coronavirus cases on Friday, the country's highest daily total since the pandemic started, according to data from the COVID Tracking Project.

By the numbers: Friday's total surpassed the U.S.'s previous record set on July 17 when 76,842 cases were recorded.

The current surge is more widespread than the uptick seen on July 17, when just four states accounted for more than 40,000 cases recorded, according to the Washington Post.
Why it matters: Experts are warning that the U.S. is "facing a whole lot of trouble" as the country heads into the winter months.

I have some first hand experience in Covid and how it is being handled-today.

2 kids at my daughter's school have tested positive, including one that my daughter was in close contact with.

First notification came from the school-not the health department. The school has been VERY proactive since Covid began, with online schooling, my daughter goes 2 or 3 times a week to school, the school has done extensive social distancing efforts, deep cleaning, etc.

So they are contact tracing the kid who tested positive and that caught my daughter in the contact tracing net. Mind you this is coming from the school-not the health department, though I assume the HD is involved at some point.

But again, no direct contact with us from the health department.

The school told us that the 2 kids did not get infected at the school, but may have gotten it at an off school activity that they both attended-who knows the accuracy of that.

But here is the funny thing. The contact tracing did not include mandatory testing-we got our daughter tested ourselves.

And the test takes 3 to 5 days to get results.

And it isn't even November yet.

And we're more than 8 months into this barreling straight toward our second winter.

I only pray that it won't be as bad as it portends to be.
