Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Sunday, October 25, 2020

On CNN's State of the Union Jake Tapper points out to Mark Meadows, the White House Chief of Staff that Covid-19 is out of control in America. Meadows Response: "That's exactly the point. So, here's what we have to do. We're not going to control the pandemic. We are going to control the fact that we get vaccines, therapeutics and other mitigation areas ... " Tapper quickly follows up on Meadows' response: "Why aren't we going to get control of the pandemic?" Meadows response emphasizes that the U.S. is not going to do what other countries have managed to do. "Because it is a contagious virus. Just like the flu, it's contagious," Meadows said.

...M: What we need to do is make sure we have the proper mitigation factors to make sure people don't die...

Well, why is not the Trump administration doing that?

Weird science. They just overwhelm me with confidence in their magnificent understanding and competence on this and every issue. What leadership,my God, how lucky we are to have this type of dedication in our elected officials.

They are keeping America great every day,in every way.

Dotard has been lying about the pandemic and his efforts to control it since at least February, it's strange that with eight days left they would try honestly. Next, somebody from the regime will admit that Dotard had the worst response of any head of state in the world.

I will say that it's strange they could find a regime surrogate not named Trump. I'm guessing Fredo Jr was too coked to the gills.

So let me get Trump's master plan straight if he's re-elected.

Only states with Republican governors are going to get this vaccine ~~~ and states with Democrat governors are going to contribute to herd immunity.

That sounds a lot like the way Trump handed out the PPEs.

You better vote for Biden if you want to get the vaccine.

This is what happens when a retired radiologist/teevee talking head with zero public health experience is allowed to take over the pandemic response task force and run government policy.

This should come as no surprise.

Republicans are far more concerned with controlling women's uteruses and giving handouts to the rich anyway.

Everyone who voted Republican knows that Republicans would never be able to respond to a pandemic.

They like it that way.

Just curious.

Are seeking to control the spread of covid and protect vulnerable Americans from contracting the virus and seeking to promote the development of vaccines, therapeutics and other mitigation factors to effectively treat those who inevitably get it, mutually exclusive policies?

Is pursuing both approaches beyond contemporary America, or just beyond Trump's administration?

Republicl0wns can't walk and chew gum... it's an either or. What makes it so bad are the things they want.

Remember Iraq? They planned for parades and wars that paid for themselves.

With this pandemic they want the peasants to die ... in order to save a consumer-based economy... you can't get more stupid than that.

At least Meadows is being honest. Obviously Trump has made the decision that he is not going to try to get ahead of the epidemic the way many European and Asian nations have done. He has made clear that he prioritizes the profits of Wall Street over all else. Okay. We get it. Thank you Meadows for not trying to pretend anything different.

No he isn't. He's doing the double-talk to pretend Trump is still on the ball. Trump has no influence over the development of a vaccine. Not that he hasn't tried. There are several out there but not ready for distribution until the pharmaceuticals say they are and not a minute before.

Trump's and his minions can afford to spout off. Pharmaceuticals can't.

Yes, I know. But the developers are saying the vaccine probably won't be available for distribution to the public for several months, even then pending approval by the FDA. They're making heroic efforts but they only have one shot to get the dosages right and consistent for the many variations, not to mention the age groups and the severity of the infection and the area of the body being affected.

I read recently that the wrong dosage could kill a patient's natural antibodies.

#36 | Posted by Twinpac at 2020-10-25 05:19 PM | Reply

Twin,

You simply don't get it.

The vaccine is already done but the administration is developing a weather machine to have it wash over true believers.

#40 | Posted by Twinpac at 2020-10-25 06:46 PM | Reply

Well, I have to say it but at this point he's technically correct, there's really no "controlling" it. The cat is long out of the bag.

But mitigation means a whole lot more than vaccines (still months to a year away), therapeutics (none work particularly well) and treatments (limited resources for hospital beds ect).

They're throwing in the towel and are trying to make the work conveniently being done by other people their own.

#49 | Posted by donnerboy at 2020-10-26 06:33 PM | Reply | Newsworthy 1

MOONUNIT has mental problems if he can recall the months of blue state governors begging the pleading for supplies while Trump coddled Governor DeSantis(R) in Florida with tons and tons of PPEs.

Nor does MOONUNIT remember that on February 23rd, after being made aware that a pandemic was approaching the United States, that Trump shipped 17.9 tons of PPEs and ventilator to China right out of the National Strategic Stockpile and then refused to activate the Emergency Medical Supplies Procurement Act to increase production at a time of great need.

Then to cover his misdeeds, MOONUNIT doesn't seem to recall Trump refusing to send additional PPEs to hospitals and accusing doctors of selling their limited rations of PPEs out the back doors of hospitals. Or telling Governors to "go find their own."

MOONUNIT doesn't recall the way Trump politicized and weaponized the distribution of PPEs.

MOONUNIT doesn't need a link. He needs a memory.
