Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Thursday, October 29, 2020

After a surprisingly sluggish weekend for polling, the floodgates have opened, with a mix of high-quality polls, low-quality polls and pretty much everything in between. And although there are some outliers in both directions, they tell a fairly consistent story, overall: A steady race nationally, perhaps with some gains for Joe Biden in the Midwest.

How depressing.

I was hoping for a concrete, no nonsense rejection of Trump and his "governing" style.

Then again, Americans are phenomenally stupid soooo...

Seems like the whole thing might be coming down to PA and the SCOTUS.

That's why we are all on pins and needles.

We are about to find out if that is really true.

#14 on the list of characteristics of fascism is fraudulent elections.

I've avoided posting a bunch of election predictioneering, it's been the case within the media for 40 years now, that the Democrats are always in trouble and the Republicans are always allowed to do whatever they want. Don't think so? How is it that, in 2020, the Republican Party has tampered with the USPS to hamper mail-in voting and that barely registers as a news story, let alone a scandal?

I'm pretty confident that the millions of people, who have stood in line for hours to cast their votes, have not done so to vote to maintain the status quo. I am going to wait to see what voter turnout looks like on November 3rd...there's too much speculation going on about what may or may not happen. No thanks.

SCOTUS seems to be hedging their bets in that regard too.

Either limiting voting in PA (lynchpin of Trump's chances) or refusing to hear a case now but stating they'll visit it AFTER the election (NC).

#6 | Posted by jpw at 2020-10-29 01:43 PM | Reply

If they disenfranchise people AFTER the voting has occurred there will be violence and rioting. The SCOTUS will be forever seen as just another partisan travesty. The sense of impartial justice that they want to convey will be gone and rightfully so.

I'm going to predict that Biden won't even need Pennsylvania to hit 270. It'll be icing on the cake.

Optimistic, and likely true.

#9 | Posted by Zed at 2020-10-29 02:00 PM | Reply

At this point, Trump's playbook is:

China 2020 = Mexico 2016 / "China, China, China" and "Ukraine, Ukraine, Ukraine"
"Burisma" 2020 = "Benghazi" 2016

"Where is Hunter?" / "Lock them all up" 2020 = "Lock her up" 2016

"USPS" fiasco, SCOTUS rush, Census fraud and "mail-in" and other voter limitations =
"Trials are too important to be decided by juries" and
"Elections are too important to be decided by the people"

Rasmussen as a poll in and of itself is an outlier.

Hm, right there in my comment I referred to the EC votes needed to win the WH ... 270 EC votes I think Biden will already have won before PA finishes counting the massive number of mailed votes.

Would a language other than English make it easier to comprehend?

let's look at the gains Trump is estimated to gain

Union more and more Unions are moving Right.....Boilermakers (that Biden lied about), Police,etc...

Black votes: Trump 2016 8% it's estimated to change to 14-22%. at 14% that's a gain of 2.4Million votes and takes that away from Dems, a 1.8 Million swing

Hispanic Trump 28% 2016 estimates to 30%. that's another 1.3 Million swing

Not counting the Police and their extended families.....Just Blacks and Hispanics it's a 3-3.5 Million vote swing. if this happens it's over for the Democrats

#18 | Posted by Maverick at 2020-10-29 06:39 PM | Reply

sorry 1.8 Million more Black votes = 3.6 Million vote swing

Police unions have long been right wing. Just like the police themselves.

Republicans oppose all unions -- and especially all public unions -- except the police.

This a huge fire alarm for Trump in Florida. Pinellas County (Tampa/St Pete area) went for Trump by +1 in 2016:

Joe Biden leads Donald Trump more than 13 points in Pinellas County

(including 21% of Republicans who said they're voting for or have voted for Biden)

This poll of one of the most populous FL counties shows Trump in trouble there too:

Poll shows Donald Trump under-performing in bellwether Hillsborough County

Biden is leading among every demographic except white voters, where he's down only 1%. But share of white registered voters shrunk by 3% since 2016.

With just plain English that everyone here should understand, when billery lost, the left demanded an end to the EC.
Now that the EC might favor bitem, its suddenly a good thing.

Looks like Obama is not going to win this election.

Dang. Maybe the new President will give him a good high level job as a consolation prize.

Like Supreme Court justice.

Wouldn't that be sweet?

I wonder why Maverick is using such a biased source like Rasmussen, rather than just getting his information from a nonpartisan source, like Trump's twitter feed.

This statement invokes statistical concepts, so not everyone here will be able to understand it.

The EC is not a reliable measure of the popular vote. That's why it should be abolished in our Democratic Republic.

Capisce?

Wow, so all those Con and Lib media outlets who continuously pump out polls that says Trump is gaining/losing or Biden is gaining/losing are all wrong because the racist 538 site says so. Racist Libs still have yet to learn that wishing something were true doesn't actually make it true.

There is little doubt that Biden will win the popular vote (just like Hillary did). The polls accurately predicted that in 2016. They're saying that again now (with larger margins).

Still disband it. Biden will win the popular vote as well.

Or do you honestly think that is not the case? The only place where the electoral college matters is where you win the election but lose the popular vote. Which only conservatives seem to do. When liberals win, they ACTUALLY win. Instead of just skirting by on a technicality.

Polls
There's only one poll that matters and answering the phone isn't it.
In 2016 I ---- my drawers after believing the polls.
I never washed them and every 2 years I bring them out to remind me.
