Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

In stating the simple truth that Biden won Georgia, even if the margin was by a slim 12,000 votes, [Georgia Secretary of State Brad] Raffensperger has opened himself up to the wrath of his own party, turning this self-proclaimed "conservative, Christian Republican," into a pariah inside the Georgia GOP.

"Both the state's Republican US senators have called for Raffensperger's resignation. The Republican governor publicly pressured him to investigate groundless charges of a fraudulent election. South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham called Raffensperger directly to discuss how absentee ballots might be thrown out (though Graham has said he was merely asking about signature verification).

Raffensperger's wife has even received death threats over text message.

The worst of the pressure has come from the President.

"Georgia Secretary of State, a so-called Republican (RINO), won't let the people checking the ballots see the signatures for fraud. Why?" Trump tweeted on November 13. "Without this the whole process is very unfair and close to meaningless. Everyone knows that we won the state."

Following the law, doing the right thing?

Taboo in Trumplandia.

Trump's only demand is loyalty.

And that's easy to give, when you don't have to put anything on the line, by offering that up.

Just buy a few flags, ball caps, and bumper stickers, and you're in. When you surround yourself with like-minded people, it feels like your loyalty is being rewarded. No different than being in any fan club. Maybe you can even have friendly debates where you one-up each other about things only fans know about, like how crooked the Clinton Foundation is, and how George Soros pulls the strings.

@#2 ... Trump's only demand is loyalty. ...

And by extension, Trump supporters' only demand is loyalty to their Dear Leader, not to the Constitution, but to their Dear Leader.

These past couple of weeks it has become more pronounced than ever.

Unfettered fealty to Dear Leader Trump, or feel the wrath of the Trump supporters.

This is their version of democracy. No dissent is allowed. Only one opinion is allowed --- the opinion that Dear Leader Trump tells you to hold.

This cannot end well if this continues.

Lamp is right. Repubs lost this round but it was just the opening salvo on the road to their autocracy.

They'll be back in 2024 ~~ meaner, smarter and more determined ~~ if their kind is allowed to go unpunished for their sedition.

Politics isn't just a gentleman's blood sport any more. Trump has turned it into a cage math to the death.

It not enough to cut off the head of the snake. I encourage Biden's DOJ to go on a seek and destroy mission. Sedition is a serious crime.

They really do. I think that perhaps they have always hated democracy. It's just that formerly lying about it and saying otherwise provided some sort of advantage.

This man described himself as a "proud Trump supporter". Hard to understand what he could possible be proud of, but let that slide. He was expected to give his soul to Trump. Trump is the unofficial religion of the Republican Party and, know what? "Christianity" is already seen as an appendage to it.

You can still worship God, as long as you mean the Fat Man.

I am fascinated and have always been in regards to such an awful man, such an empty loser, as Donald Trump is worshipped.

But the easiest answer has also always been that there are a lot of awful, empty, losers in the American electorate.

How to tell if you're in a cult, method #165:

Are members of your group hated and ostracized for not being committed enough to your group?
