Duh. Decrease availability of birth control and this is what happens.

Study after study has show the two things which lower abortion rates are frank, honest sex education, and easy access to birth control. coloradosun.com www.huffpost.com

Of course it's higher. And these are good, conservatives Iowans making it higher. The ones who are committed to other people not having abortions.

Conservatives are "baby killers" (their words, not mine). Quelle surprise.

This is critical research that proves what everyone who gives a damn about lowering abortion rates warned would happen.

Laboratories of Democracy? Laboratories of Abortion Policy!
This thread could really benefit from the wisdom of the hardcore anti-Abortion Bible-thumping GracieAmazed and BillJohnson types.

What I cannot understand is the number of folks who call themselves 'Pro Life' yet are also advocates of widespread gun ownership, reductions in Medicaid, elimination of early-childhood health care for low-income families, roadblocks for receipt of SNAP food support and reductions in funding for public schools. How can one be anti-abortion yet permit death by suicide (more than half of all firearm deaths in the US are suicides), unchecked childhood illness, lack of education and food insecurity?

And won't wear a mask, make demands to 'open the economy!' and ignoring any mitigation efforts.

"Anti-choice laws have always been about punishing women" and if they have to bring a child into the world where it will not have enough to eat and in general have a miserable life, that's OK too.

To say nothing of supporting capital punishment and bombing the hell out of our enemies, perceived or otherwise.

" the number of folks who call themselves 'Pro Life'"
If you look closely, you'll notice the only thing they actually care about is controlling a woman's vagina. Once the child is born, they don't give a fork.

My old pastor used to say that if men could have abortions, they would have been legal (and free) 5,000 years ago.

Pretty solid data to show to folks who think not funding planned parenthood equals fewer abortions.
Common sense needs to prevail.
But so many republicans equate planned parenthood with abortion so lawmakers take the path of least resistance and pretend all PP does is perform abortions. If they had simply allowed PP to receive funding for other services including birth control, fewer abortions would have occurred.

It needs to, but it won't. Rs will come up with alternative facts that show if PP went away abortions would go away. Sigh.
