The number of Americans who applied for state unemployment benefits in late November rose for the second week in a row to a five-week high, signaling the record rise in coronavirus cases has put a dent in hiring and could be applying the brakes to the economic recovery.

Initial jobless claims increased by a seasonally adjusted 30,000 to 778,000 in the seven days ended Nov. 21.

Prior to the racist orange turd's presidency the record for weekly jobless claims was 695,000. The bankruptcy-prone plague rat has blown that number out of the water 36 weeks in a row. #MAGA!!!

Liberals: Covid is not impacting enough people fast enough to get them dependent on the government, we must do more! Let's shut down the economy to provide a 100% way to make more people jobless.

And the "record for weekly jobless claims" means nothing unless you look at it as a percentage. During 1918 and 1919, the Great Depression, etc., the number of people who would have filed for unemployment (if it were federally provided at the time) would easily have been a much higher percent than anything that is happening today. Liberals still think that a novel pandemic somehow doesn't cause these situations that ARE HAPPENING ACROSS THE WORLD. But since you can't blame Trump for other countries' economies, the only unintelligent garbage you can produce is "#MAGA!!!". That actually speaks a lot more about your capabilities than it does about Trump.

Well unemployment is currently cruising around where it was when Obama took the reins a dozen years ago.

"Liberals still think that a novel pandemic somehow doesn't cause these situations that ARE HAPPENING ACROSS THE WORLD."

The "situation" where 4% of the world's population has 20% of the cases is a uniquely American failure.

And we should all give President Donald J. TRUMP credit for his greatest accomplishment and his lasting legacy.

Your cult leader and his sidekick ted cruz both said talk about the pandemic would vanish after the election.

Do you still trust your cult leader and ted cruz?

"Liberals: Covid is not impacting enough people fast enough to get them dependent on the government"

It wasn't liberals who turned to the government, asking permission to help them spread disease in church.

Is Humtake a bot? Seems like a bot to me.

Without another round of bailout money don't expect that to last long. I think you will see major bankruptcies, layoffs and outright business failures in early 2021. Restaurants around here are dropping like flies now. They invested to reopen and now they were just closed to dine in. I know 2 that are throwing in the towel. The money is gone... Retailers first round was nothing - wait for the new year. Look at the Disney layoffs... Etc Some have boomed in this economy but others, a LOT of others, have not.

Well if Trump and the GOP would have taken it seriously - i.e. Mask Wearing, Business limitations and closures, large gatherings - we wouldn't be the laughing stock of the world when it comes to COVID, they would reserve that for Sweden. I mean look at Fly Over Country now... Worse than NYC early on per capita. People around the world pushed back on lock downs and travel restrictions (and I get it). Look at Europe in general now - EU countries caved as well as all levels of government here in the US.

Failure to learn from history landed us here yet again. Go read up on the Spanish Flu. If we didn't have the advances in Medicine we do since that time, far more would be dead but I do not believe it would be as bad as that was - yet.
